OF FINESSE

DRAFT RECAP
OFF SEASON REVIEW
LOOKING FORWARD

THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE OF FATHERS OF FINESSE

REVIEWING THE
2022 ROOKIE DRAFT

1.01 Breece Hall

RB1-Better Call Hall

With an impressive college production profile and a good
combination of speed and size, Breece Hall was the no-doubt 1.01 in
rookie drafts, even considering that Team Saltlakecityuta had
traded away Christian McCaffrey right before the rookie draft.
Though the Jets continue to be a poverty franchise and the offense
projects to be very bad in 2021, this pick was a classic case of don’t
overthink it.

1.02 Kenneth Walker

RB2-Cameron MacCoy Football

Coming off an incredible season in which he carried Michigan State to
a 10-win season and finished top 5 in Heisman voting, Kenneth Walker
was seen as the clear cut RB2 in this class, which is why Team
Cameron Maccoy Football ran up to the podium to draft him. Walker
will start the season behind Rashaad Penny, but given Penny’s
extensive injury history, he will get ample opportunities to show off his
talent.

1.03 Drake London

WR1-My Chubb Hurts

Already being set with two stud RBs in Austin Ekeler and Nick Chubb,
Team My Chubb Hurts decided to go with USC’s Drake London, the
first receiver taken off the board in the real-life NFL draft and a
physical freak. London is great at making contested catches, moves
exceptionally well for his size, and figures to be one of the top targets
in his offense alongside Kyle Pitts.

1.04 Garrett Wilson

WR2- Book of More Mom

Even in an Ohio State wide receiver room chalk full of NFL talent,
Garrett Wilson still managed to stand out, which speaks to the
quality of his route running and his incredible body control. These
are some of the reasons why Team MoreMom felt comfortable
trading up to acquire him, moving up from the 1.07 to the 1.04.

1.05 Treylon Burks

WR3- SquishyDuzi

Fresh off a 2021 championship and looking to bolster his roster with
readily startable players, Team SquishyDuzi went with Arkansas’ Treylon
Burks, who is walking into a great situation with A.J. Brown being traded
away and Robert Woods coming off a torn ACL. Burks profiles as being a
wide receiver similar to his predecessor, a big and physical wide receiver
who can really let loose in the open field with the ball in his hands.

1.06 Chris Olave

WR4- Injury Prone

The second of the two Ohio State wide receivers drafted in the
first round is certainly no slouch, combining big-play ability
with silky smooth route running ability. Team Injury Prone
picked up a great player walking into a great situation, as
Jameis Winston’s gun-slinging tendencies mesh well with
Olave’s skill set.

1.07 Jameson Williams

WR5- Chunk Patriots

Trading down from the fourth pick really worked out for Team
Chunk Patriots, as he was able to snag Alabama product Jameson
Williams, who would have been the WR1 in this class if it wasn’t for
a torn ACL. Williams has true home run speed, and he figures to be
a perennial threat if Detroit can figure out its quarterback situation.

1.08 James Cook

RB3- Book of MoreMom

The Buffalo Bills figure to be one of the best offenses in the NFL this
year, and wanting a piece of that pie, Team MoreMom traded back
into the first round to take Georgia’s James Cook. The Bills clearly
wanted a pass catcher out of the backfield, as they almost signed
J.D. McKissic, and Cook was one of the best pass catching running
backs available in this year’s draft.

1.09 Christian Watson

WR6- ArabManChanda

One of the biggest winners of the whole NFL draft process was North
Dakota State’s Christian Watson, who got drafted to a depleted wide
receiver room in the Green Bay Packers and showed an incredible
combination of size and speed. Team ArabManChanda instantly
boosts its future upside by taking a player who has the opportunity
to be the downfield-winning alpha wide receiver for an Aaron
Rodgers-led team.

1.10 Jahan Dotson

WR7- Better Call Hall

Looking for more depth at the wide receiver position, Team Better
Call Hall took Penn State’s Jahan Dotson, one of the most polished
route runners in this year’s crop of wide receivers. Dotson combines
smooth route running with reliable hands, and he will be a great
option behind Terry Mclaurin in a depleted Commanders receiver
core.

1.11 Skyy Moore

WR8- Broncos Country Let’s Ride

After unloading a lion’s share of targets this off-season in Tyreek Hill, the
Kansas City Chiefs look to replace his production with a spate of new wide
receivers, one of whom is Skyy Moore. Moore, who played at lower-level
Western Michigan, showed why he deserved to be a second-round pick;
displaying impressive ball skills and demonstrating pound-for-pound
toughness. Moore is a great addition to Team Broncos Country Let’s Ride,
as he has the opportunity to gain Patrick Mahomes’ trust and become one
of the top targets on what should be a high scoring offense.

1.12 George Pickens

WR9- Squishy Duzi

With the second of his two first round picks, Team SquishyDuzi
elected to pick Georgia’s George Pickens, a widely talented wide
receiver who was one of the most highly touted prospects
coming out of high school. Pickens slipped in the real life NFL
draft due to character concerns and a torn ACL, but with the
right coaching and development around him, he figures to
blossom into a true alpha wide receiver.

Projected Starters STRENGTHS

Player ’21 Finish Lamar Jackson has weekly upside to be the top scoring
quarterback just based off his rushing totals, and he’s in line
QB Lamar Jackson QB16 for a prove-it type season after failing to reach an agreement
with the Ravens for a contract extension this off-season. The
RB D’Andre Swift RB23 Broncos finally found their franchise quarterback, and this is
a major boon for Courtland Sutton as Russell Wilson loves
RB Breece Hall N/A throwing deep shots to the big-bodied receiver in his offense.

WR D.K. Metcalf WR10 WEAKNESSES

WR Courtland Sutton WR47 After trading away Christian McCaffrey in the off-season, the
running backs are the biggest questions for this team, as
TE T.J. Hockenson TE17 Breece Hall is sure to go through growing pains in his rookie
year, D’Andre Swift has yet to take the next step, and Clyde
FLEX Clyde Edwards-Helaire RB38 Edwards Helaire hasn’t proven why he deserved to go in the
first round in 2020. All are under the age of 24 so there is
K Matt Prater K8 time for development, but weekly duds from all three would
spell disaster for a team thin on wide receiver talent. D.K.
DEF Buffalo Bills DEF2 Metcalf is also on the opposing end of the Wilson signing, as
he loses a Hall of Fame caliber quarterback throwing to him

STRENGTHS Projected Starters

You can’t get a fantasy quarterback much safer than Player ’21 Finish
Patrick Mahomes, who is a weekly lock to score at least
20 points, even with the departure of Tyreek Hill. The QB Patrick Mahomes QB4
peace of mind that comes with owning Mahomes will
allow this team to truly enjoy the weekly booms of RB Aaron Jones RB13
Stefon Diggs, who is set for another monster season
with Josh Allen. RB Kareem Hunt RB46

WEAKNESSES WR Juju Smith-Schuster WR139

Although Aaron Jones figures to eat into some of the WR Robert Woods WR48
vacated targets and red zone touches for Davante
Adams, the mere presence of A.J. Dillon cuts into his TE Dalton Schultz TE3
overall upside and he is approaching the age 27 cliff for
running back production. Kareem Hunt’s failure to FLEX Stefon Diggs WR8
force a trade also caps his ceiling and floor, as he will
lose touches to D’Ernest Johnson and Jerome Ford K Tyler Bass K11
regularly, and also won’t see a bell cow type role if Nick
Chubb goes down. DEF Tennessee Titans DEF12

Projected Starters STRENGTHS

Player ’21 Finish With the two headed monster of Nick Chubb and Austin
Ekeler, this team figures to have plenty of firepower and high
QB Jalen Hurts QB9 scoring from its top two running backs, and even Chase
Edmonds will have a significant role in a revamped Dolphins
RB Nick Chubb RB7 offense. Justin Tucker is consistently a top 3 kicker every year
in fantasy, and if Jalen Hurts can develop more as a passer
RB Austin Ekeler RB2 with the addition of A.J. Brown, he has the floor and ceiling to
be the top quarterback in all of fantasy.
WR Keenan Allen WR15
WEAKNESSES
WR Michael Pittman WR16
Keenan Allen is getting up there in age, and even though he
TE Zack Ertz TE11 has been remarkably consistent for the past five years, the
ascendance of Mike Williams last year might mean the
FLEX Chase Edmonds RB37 Chargers feel more comfortable phasing him out of the
offense. The Chargers will obviously continue throwing it to
K Justin Tucker K3 him this year, but with Allen’s cap number decreasing
significantly in the 2023 offseason, he might be a surprise cut
DEF Tampa Bay Buccaneers DEF6 candidate and no longer be tied to an elite offense. Zach Ertz
won’t be fighting for his role as the TE1 on this team with
2022 rookie draft picks rookie Trey McBride, but it’s fair to wonder what his role in
the Arizona offense will be after DeAndre Hopkins comes off
Pick Player Team his 6-game suspension.

STRENGTHS

Team MoreMom made one of the biggest splashes in the Projected Starters
off-season by landing Justin Jefferson, and in doing so
landed a perennial WR1 in fantasy that will be a Player ’21 Finish
cornerstone for years to come. Travis Etienne and Joe
Mixon will also be solid cornerstone pieces as running QB Matt Ryan QB19
backs with three down skill sets tied to young and talented
quarterbacks. If Trevor Lawrence takes the next step this RB Joe Mixon RB3
year, Christian Kirk will be the biggest benefactor, and this
team will have another wide receiver at or under 25 years RB Travis Etienne N/A
old that has a great fantasy outlook.
WR Justin Jefferson WR4
WEAKNESSES
WR Rashod Bateman WR79
This team might be hamstrung by weekly 15-point
performances from its quarterbacks until Justin Fields TE Albert Okwuegbunam TE31
truly arrives. Matt Ryan is a better real-life quarterback
than fantasy quarterback, and at this point in his career, he FLEX Christian Kirk WR28
doesn’t have the volume to get much production. Albert
Okwuegbunam has the physical tools to be a dangerous K Brandon McManus K15
weapon for Russell Wilson, but he was playing into the
fourth quarter of a preseason game and there’s only so DEF Cincinnati Bengals DEF18
much target volume to go between him, Courtland Sutton,

Projected Starters STRENGTHS

Player ’21 Finish Even at 44 years old last season, Tom Brady was able to
finish as the QB3 overall and he should have no problem
QB Tom Brady QB3 continuing as the leader of a high scoring Buccaneers
offense. D.J. Moore got the best quarterback in his career
RB Leonard Fournette RB11 with the addition of Baker Mayfield, which isn’t saying
much, but he should have more touchdown upside to go
RB Rashaad Penny RB31 along with his consistent volume of receiving yards. A
healthy Michael Thomas rounds out a nice wide receiver
WR Tyreek Hill WR7 core, and he should get back to being a top-level receiver
with gun-slinging Jameis Winston at the helm.
WR Michael Thomas N/A
WEAKNESSES
TE George Kittle TE4
The two starting running backs on this team have some
FLEX D.J. Moore WR18 major questions about their durability; Rashaad Penny has
always struggled to stay on the field with a litany of
K Greg Joseph K6 injuries throughout his career and Leonard Fournette has
always alternated great seasons with injury-plagued and
DEF Washington DEF22 inconsistent effort seasons. If these two manage to stay
healthy and consistent for the entire season, the
Commanders production of the running backs might match and even
surpass that of the great wide receiver core.

STRENGTHS Projected Starters

Josh Allen is the presumptive favorite to be the top Player ’21 Finish
scoring quarterback, Mike Evans will be leaned on by
Tom Brady due to positional uncertainty, and Travis QB Josh Allen QB1
Kelce will get even more volume this year as the top
target in a Patrick Mahomes-led offense. Daniel Carlson RB Ezekiel Elliott RB6
quietly finished as the top fantasy kicker last year and is
primed to repeat this year with an improved offense. RB James Conner RB5

WEAKNESSES WR Deebo Samuel WR2

The ability of some of these players to replicate their WR Mike Evans WR6
2021 performances are huge questions; Ezekiel Elliot
might be approaching the career touches cliff for TE Travis Kelce TE2
running backs, James Conner matched rushing
inefficiency with a huge volume of touchdowns, and FLEX Darnell Mooney WR22
Deebo got a huge boost with rushing touchdowns and
Brandon Aiyuk being in the doghouse for the early part K Daniel Carlson K1

Projected Starters STRENGTHS

Player ’21 Finish Kyler Murray, Derrick Henry, and Cooper Kupp make for
a pretty formidable big 3 of fantasy players, as each has
QB Kyler Murray QB10 been or has the potential to be the best player overall at
their position. Kyler Murray has the rushing upside to be
RB Derrick Henry RB14 a cheat code at the quarterback position, Derrick Henry
will still be the focal point of the Titans’ offense after they
RB David Montgomery RB20 traded away A.J. Brown, and Cooper Kupp just came off
one of the greatest seasons ever for a wide receiver.
WR Cooper Kupp WR1
WEAKNESSES
WR Brandin Cooks WR21
Brandin Cooks is one of the most underrated wide
TE Mike Gesicki TE12 receivers in the NFL and will always provide a safe floor,
but his ceiling is severely capped by the quarterback play
FLEX Hunter Renfrow WR13 of Davis Mills, and Hunter Renfrow is due for some of
type regression after the Raiders signed Davante Adams
K Nick Folk K2 to soak up plenty of targets. The positional fit of Mike
Gesicki might be a problem because he plays as a wide
DEF New Orleans Saints DEF5 receiver instead of a traditional tight end, and the
Dolphins just signed Tyreek Hill and Cedrick Wilson to

STRENGTHS

Though he has been a top fantasy quarterback in years Projected Starters
past, Russell Wilson might reach new heights this year in
Denver, away from the old school offensive philosophy of Player ’21 Finish
Pete Carroll. He’ll be given more freedom to air the ball
out and be the “chef” he’s always wanted to be. DeVonta QB Russell Wilson QB15
Smith, benefiting from the extra defensive coverage
drawn to A.J. Brown, will show why he won the Heisman RB Alvin Kamara RB9
in his final year of college and Diontae Johnson will
thrive in a non-Ben Roethlisberger-led offense, despite RB J.K. Dobbins N/A

Projected Starters STRENGTHS

Player ’21 Finish When Christian McCaffrey is healthy, he can hit peaks
that no other player in fantasy can hit currently, which
QB Matthew stafford QB6 is why Team Minivann traded to get him. Pair this
with ascending young receivers in Ceedee Lamb and
RB Christian McCaffrey RB44 Jerry Jeudy, as well as an elite tight end in Darren
Waller, and you have a combination of players that can
RB A.J. Dillon RB21 go toe to toe with any team in this league.

WR Ceedee Lamb WR14 WEAKNESSES

WR Jerry Jeudy WR94 There are some unanswered questions about the
running backs other than McCaffrey; will A.J. Dillon
TE Darren Waller TE19 ever get the opportunity to start instead of being in a
timeshare with Aaron Jones, will Damien Harris
FLEX Damien Harris RB8 overcome the committee situation he is in and avoid

STRENGTHS

Having one or two top players in their primes at any Projected Starters
position is a boon for any team, but Team SquishyDuzi
managed to find (cue the Lebron James): not one, not two, Player ’21 Finish
not three, but four top players at their respective positions
in their primes, which is almost unthinkable. Herbert is QB Justin Herbert QB2
one of the best young quarterbacks in football, Najee
Harris is one of the few remaining workhorses running RB Najee Harris RB4
backs left in the NFL, Ja’marr Chase just had the
statistically best season for a rookie wide receiver, and RB Saquon Barkley RB34
Mark Andrews is an elite tight end who is the top option in
his offense. WR Ja’marr Chase WR3

WEAKNESSES WR Jaylen Waddle WR20

Saquon Barkley might never go back to being a top fantasy TE Mark Andrews TE1
option again, not due to his lack of talent, but the sheer
lack of talent around him, and Cam Akers is coming off an FLEX Cam Akers N/A
injury that is essentially a career ender at the running
back position. Jaylen Waddle might not even reach the K Jake Elliott K9
positional finish of his rookie year, as he had nearly half
the targets among Dolphins wide receivers and Tyreek DEF Cleveland Browns DEF16
Hill coming in almost certainly decreases his target share.

Projected Starters STRENGTHS

Player ’21 Finish Given the high price the Raiders paid to acquire him,
Davante Adams should once again be a top target in a
QB Dak Prescott QB7 new-look Raiders offense, and Dalvin Cook should benefit
from a new innovative scheme brought over by head
RB Dalvin cook RB15 coach Kevin O’Connell. If Mike Williams can spread out
the insane production he had in the early part of 2021
RB Josh Jacobs RB16 over the course of this season, he will be a top receiver in
fantasy, but regardless of what actually happens, he will
WR Davante Adams WR5 still be a top option tied to an elite quarterback.

WR Mike Williams WR9 WEAKNESSES

TE Hunter henry TE8 Josh Jacobs and Miles Sanders are still the de-facto lead
backs for their respective teams, but the shift towards a
FLEX Miles Sanders RB43 committee-style backfield in both their offenses might
hurt their production. For Sanders it will be because he is

STRENGTHS Projected Starters

Having the best running back in Jonathan Taylor helps Player ’21 Finish
but having a 21-year-old unicorn at tight end in Kyle Pitts
is just *chef’s kiss. Pitts provides a weekly positional QB Aaron Rodgers QB5
advantage at the tight end position, and his value only
figures to rise once Atlanta drafts a franchise RB Jonathan Taylor RB1
quarterback. Tee Higgins is basically Ja’marr Chase
without the long touchdowns, which is to say he is a RB Javonte Williams RB18
target hog tied to a great young quarterback in Joe
Burrow. Higgins might even surpass Chase this year, if WR Tee Higgins WR17
his historic efficiency starts to dip at any rate.
WR A.J. Brown WR32
WEAKNESSES
TE Kyle Pitts TE10
With a pretty deep and proven starting lineup, the true

by a few second and third year players; Javonte Williams

SCOUTING AHEAD

WHO WILL WIN THE BIJAN SWEEPSTAKES?

With one of the best running backs in recent memory coming out in next year’s NFL draft, there is
sure to be a lot of mid-season trading and posturing to try and get him. That raises the question: who
will actually get Bijan Robinson? Will it be Team Suyash, who already has a head start by trading this
year’s first rounder for a first-round pick next year and trading Antonio Gibson plus for an extra first
rounder next year? Will it be Texas alum Shloak, who is sure to pay a hefty price for Robinson, or just
the team who finishes in last place? Regardless, Robinson’s fantasy free agency is sure to change the
landscape of the entire league.

RECEIVERS ON NEW TEAMS

There’s always been the narrative of a wide receiver struggling once he joins a new team, but the
conclusions drawn from such moves have always been mixed because there haven’t been enough big
moves to analyze. This off-season was different, as many big-name wide receivers such as Davante
Adams, Marquise Brown, and A.J. Brown switched teams, which will obviously have massive
implications on the fantasy wide receiver market, as well as the quarterback market.

2017 RBS FALLOFF?

The 2017 NFL RB draft class was a game changer for fantasy, as guys like Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon,
Alvin Kamara, and Christian McCaffrey came out and became the featured backs on their teams. This
season or this coming off-season, most of these guys will approach the dreaded age 27 cliff for
running backs, and this could have a dramatic effect on the entire landscape of the running back
position. Lots of NFL teams these days are shifting to a multiple backs approach, and the potential
decline of workhorses like Dalvin Cook or Alvin Kamara could mean that a back in the mold of a
McCaffrey might become harder to find.
