Unit 3: The weather and season Topic: Clothes for the weather

Teacher: Miss Kanoknat Srisa Level: Grade 8

1. Learning Standards and Indicators

Strand 1: Language for communication

Standard FL1.1: Understanding and ability interpreting what has been heard and

read from various types of media, and ability to express opinions with reasons.

Indicators 2/1: Act in compliance with requests, instructions, clarifications and

simple explanations heard and read.

Standard FL1.2: Possessing language communication skills for effective exchange

of information; efficient expression of feelings and opinions

Indicators 2/4: Speak and write appropriately to ask for and give information,

describe and express opinions about what has been heard or read.

2. Concept

This lesson is going to discuss and exchange information about weather, seasons

including festivals held during the season various according to the culture of the owner

Language.

3. Objectives

3.1 Terminal Objectives:
Students will be able to give data about their communication of weather.

3.2 Behavioral Objectives:
1) Students will be able to tell the meaning of vocabulary about weather

correctly. (K)
2) Students will be able to tell the meaning of vocabulary about clothes for

seasons correctly. (K)
3) Students will be able to read and pronounce the word about weather. (P)
4) Students will be able to read and pronunciation the clothes for seasons.(P)
5) Students are enthusiastic about their studies. (A)

4. Contents
4.1 Skill: Listening and Reading
4.2 Vocabulary: Weather: sunny, cloudy, windy, rainy, cold, hot, snowy, lightning and

gloomy
Season: rainy season, summer and winter
Clothes: socks, pants, gloves, short, sneaker, skirt, jacket, T-shirt, etc.

4.3 Structure: Q: What’s it like outside?
A: It is ………………… (weather)
Q: Is it …………….. today?
A: Yes, it is …………….. (weather) / No, it isn’t. It is ………………. (weather)

5. Teaching and Learning Procedures
5.1 Warm up (5 minutes)
1) The teacher greets the student.
T: Good morning everyone. How are you today?
S: Good morning teacher. I’m good, and you?
T: I’m good, thank you. What’s the weather like today?
5.2 Presentation (10 minutes)
2) The teacher leads the students into the lesson by asking the learner.

“What’s it like outside?” and the student responds to his or her own opinion and responds
to it and then teacher tell the students that today to learn about the weather and season.

3) The teacher plays the PowerPoint presentation slides about vocabulary
and structure about the weather and clothes for season then teacher leads the students to
read the words aloud at the same time.

5.3 Practice (15 minutes)
4) The teacher distributes worksheet to students and tell students how to do

it.
5.4 Production (20 minutes)
5) Students are divided into 3 equal groups to play a game “matching words

on the board” after students finished grouping teacher will explains to students how to play
the game.
Rule of this game: 1) There are 3 sets of flashcards. Set 1 is summer and summer’s clothes,
set 2 is winter and winter’s clothes and set 3 is rainy season and rainy season’s clothes.

2) Representatives from each group of students draw lots to determine
which season they will play in the game.

3) After that, let the representatives of the group come out 1 pair per
group to come out and play games in their own group.

4) The first agent is on the season side, the second is on the clothing side.
Both of them will raise the flashcards at the same time, one word at a time. The seasons
and the clothes that they used matched for the two of them to run and put them on the
front of the board. Do this for 5 word and change it to the next pair.

5) The group with the faster time than that group is the winner.
5.5 Wrap up (10 minutes)

6) The teacher and students review all words and summarizes what they
have learned today together.
