5.0 DRAFT To: [email protected] From: [email protected] Subject: Concerns about Deforestation and Solutions Dear Mr/Mrs, I trust this message will find you well. My name is Nor Syamin Danisha binti Muhammad Syafiq Krishnan, a resident of our local community, and I am writing to you with a pressing concern regarding the escalating state of deforestation in our vicinity. I appreciate your attention to this matter, and I am keen to propose viable solutions to lessen the negative consequences of this environmental issue. The loss of forests worlwide is a result of human activity. In order to mitigate the impacts of deforestations, efforts must be made to developing and implementing effective solutions to slow down the rate of forest loss, such as planting more trees, recycle and enforce the law. It has come to my attention that the rate of deforestation in our immediate area has reached an alarming level in recent years, which has me deeply concerned about the effects it will have on the environment and the communities that live there. To address this issue, one approach to addressing deforestation is to promote tree plant initiatives, which can help to slowing down the rate of forest loss, conserve carbon & support biodiversity. Trees can enhance air quality by lowering the quantity of pollutants found in the atmosphere through their absorption of greenhouse gases. Increasing the number of trees planted can lower the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmos, lessen the effects of deforestation, and enhance the quality of the air in general. Besides, planting trees can reduce flooding as trees hold onto the soil, and their roots

act as a water-absorbing system that absorbs excess surface water and draws it to underground reservoirs. Additionally, recycle is an essential solution for deforestation as it promotes the reuse of materials, reduces the demand for raw materials, and helps in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Producing new materials requires a significant amount of natural resources, such as trees, water, and energy. By using recycled materials instead of new, natural resources, we can reduce the demand for timber produycts and slow the destruction of forests. In order to promote recycling habits, we can start with recycling paper, as it helps reduce the need for new timber and promote sustainability in the forest industry. For instance : recycling materials such as papers, plastics, and glass is an important and effective way to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills or incinerators, which can contribute to deforestation. In contrast, recycling materials such as paper, plastics, and glass allows us to reduce the amount of raw materials required to produce new products. For example, recycled paper uses up to 60% less energy and water during production compared to producing virgin paper. Moreover, effective solutions demand the implementation of regulations and the enforcement of laws to protect forests and prevent illegal logging and other destructive activity. These laws should include the protetction of forested areas from illegal logging, the enforcement of suistainable forest management practices, and the imposition of penalties for violations. In addition, restricting timber harvesting serves as a vital measure to mitigate the detrimental impacts of deforestation and promote environmental sustainability. In conclusion,we must put an end to deforestation to protect the envirement and preserve it for future generations, as it has many NEGATIVE effects. I firmly believe that these solutions, if implemented effectively, can help limit the impact of deforestation and promote the preservation of our environment. I earnestly implore you to consider these suggestions and undertake appropriate measures to address the pressing issue of deforestation in our locality. I extend my sincere gratitude for your time and consideration.

Yours faithfully, Syamin

5.0 DRAFT Making Small Changes That Have a Big Impact: Creating an Environmentally Healthy Lifestyle 25 NOVEMBER 2023 by Syamin Danisha Hey everyone! Welcome to my blog today. I want to start off by saying how much I appreciate your interest in creating an enviromentally healthy living. Although adopting an environmentally friendly lifestyle may seem difficult, it all begins with little adjustments to your everyday routine. You may significantly improve the environment and your health by implementing a range of carbon footprint-reducing techniques, such as planting trees, using lesser energy, simplifying your shopping habits, and giving up plastic use. We will go over each of these tactics in-depth in this blog and provide you helpful hints on how to apply them to your day-to-day activities. There's always space for development and progress, regardless of how long you've been an environmentalist or how new to the field you are. 1. PLANTING TREES So let's start by talking about the first tactic, which is planting tree. We can lessen our carbon footprint, enhance the quality of the air, and improve the environment for present and future generations by making tiny adjustments to our daily routines. Trees act as natural air purrifiers, drawing harmful pollutants out of the atmosphere to improve the quality of the air. Additionally, they can aid in lowering the atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases because they absorb carbon dioxide and convert it into essential oxygen. Trees contributes to the atmospheric gas balance by releasing oxygen & absorbing carbon dioxide through photosynthesis. This procedure contributes to the reduction of the amount of greenhouse gases, thereby lessening the adverse impacts of climate change. So, what are you waiting for? Let's get planting!

2. GIVE UP YOUR PLASTIC HABITS To reduce harm to our planet, we need to start making changes in the way we consume and interacting with the world. One small but significant step we can take is to give up plastic habits and replace them with more sustainable alternatives. Plastic takes hundreds of years to biodegrade, and when it does, toxic chemicals are released into the environment. This can have serious consequences for the health of people, animals, and the environment. Instead of using plastic straw, bags, and disposable packaging, we can chose sustainable, reusable, or secondhand alternatives. This not only helps reduce waste and the need for produce new goods but also lessens our carbon footprint and helps the environment. Let's start reducing our plastic waste today and together create a more sustainable future for everyone. 3. REDUCE YOUR ENERGY USAGE Another important step towards creating an environmentally healthy lifestyle is reducing energy usage, and there are several simple ways to do this. First off, we can lower our energy costs and carbon footprint by selecting energy-efficient appliances. For example, a refrigerator with an energy-efficient label will help lower energy usage and decrease environmental impact. Furthermore, we should utilize natural light as much as we can by opening the blinds and curtains during the day. Last but not least, we can extend the life of our electronics and save energy by simply turning them off when not in use. With so many energy-efficient products available both online and in stores, selecting one has never been simpler. We can all do our part to incorporate energy efficiency into our daily lives because even these tiny adjustments can have a big impact on both the health of the environment and our wallets. Today, let's flip the switch and begin the process of building a more sustainable future for present and future generations.

4. SIMPLIFY YOUR PURCHASING HABITS Simplifying our purchasing habits are an additional strategy for living an environmentally friendly lifestyle. We can lessen waste and contribute to the creation of a greener future by selecting reusable, sustainable, or used goods. By select these goods over throwaway ones, we can reduce the amount of waste we produce as well as the environmental impact of production and waste generation by lowering the need to create new goods from raw materials. By reducing the waste our purchases produce, we can also embrace a zerowaste mindset and help reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. We can all have a more sustainable future if we make this small changes! One purchase at a time, we can collectively have a positive environmental impact. In conclusion, creating an environmentally healthy lifestyle requires making small changes in our daily lives. By incorporating these strategies, like planting trees, reducing energy usage, giving up plastic habits, and simplifying purchasing habits, we can make a significant impact on the environment and our future generations. Let's start making a positive change today and leave the world a better place for those who come after us. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and for considering these ways to create an environmentally healthy lifestyle. I hope they will inspire you to make positive changes in your life. Remember, every small step towards a healthier environmental lifestyle counts, no matter how small it may be! If you have any questions or need more resources, please don't hesitate to reach out. Have a great day, and take care!
