Hello, TIGER Family!

Welcome to the 2018 Dunbar Tiger Fall sports season! I first want to thank you for
taking the time to read this welcome letter. It says that you care about our school,

our activities and most importantly our student athletes.

Dunbar High School is on its way to establishing itself as the mecca in the state of
Florida in the areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). As
Dunbar merges the relevance of STEM with the academic rigor of the
International Baccalaureate (IB) program as well as the support of
the AVID program, it will become one of the premier academic
high schools not only in Florida but in the United States. With
the federal focus towards Science, Technology, Engineering,
and Math (STEM), there has never been a better time
to consider preparing students for the fields of
Information Technology (IT), Engineering, and
Biomedical Sciences. Even if students eventually
choose a di erent fi eld of study in college, the
rigorous STEM and International Baccalaureate
programs will give students a decisive advantage in
both their University applications and in preparation
for post-secondary coursework.

At Dunbar High School, our theme is “Achievement is the
Expectation.” I am extremely proud to be the Principal of
Dunbar High School and I would like to thank the faculty

and sta who are focused on the success of all our
students as we remain on the cutting edge of

teaching and learning. A special thank you goes
out to the businesses, alumni and extended

family of Dunbar High School who support our
school through fi nances and/or services. I

would also like to thank our parents, without
whose support and encouragement none of
this would be possible; and to our students
and student athletes, who in the final analysis,

make it all worthwhile.

I would like to welcome you to Joe North Stadium. The home of
your Dunbar Fighting Tigers. This year we are excited and ready to
compete at the highest level and with great sportsmanship. These
young men have dedicated their entire summer into the process.
Here at Dunbar we want them to praise the process and not the
product. They have put in countless hours in the weight room and
on the track. This is the team of our community and we appreciate
you for coming out and supporting us tonight by watching the
game. Lastly, we want to thank our sponsors by asking all of our
guests to visit them at their local businesses. We appreciate their
help in supporting our efforts in creating a high-quality program.

TIGER FOOTBALL “Coach Brown, who played college football at Malone
College in Canton, Ohio has 22 years of successful high
HEAD COACH school coaching experience with the last 14 seasons being at
Dunbar where he has served in various capacities including
defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator and assistant
head coach. Known for years as one of the best defensive
coordinators in Southwest Florida, Coach Brown became
offensive coordinator in 2015 and Dunbar fell just one game
short of the State Semi-Finals. Coach Brown has been in
the state playoffs for the last two years reaching the regional

finals in 2016 and semifinals in 2017. We look forward to having him lead our football
program for the years to come.”

Dunbar High School: 2004-2015
Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator/Offensive Coordinator.
Was defensive coordinator of team that reached the playoffs in 6 out of 7 years
In only season as offensive coordinator, team played to regional finals (2015)

Estero High School: 1996-2003
JV Head Coach, Varsity RB/DE/DB/WR coach.
Was a member of the Estero staff during one of the best high school football spans in
Lee County History between 1998-2001, amassing a 43-6 record.
Coached RB on Class 5A state runner up team that had 2 one thousand yard backs
