PRIOR TO PLAY
To assist in timely play each Wednesday, please adhere to the

following schedule prior to play:
Check in at the “check-in” station no later than 15 minutes prior
to play. Players not checked in 15 minutes prior to play will be

non-event for that day’s game, at the discretion of the
Tournament Chair. As a courtesy we ask that you call the pro

shop if you know you will be arriving late.
15 Minutes prior to play – Ladies to their carts
10 Minutes prior to play – Announcements and format
5 Minutes prior to play – Carts leave for designated starting hole

WEATHER CONDITIONS
If the courses are open, the WGA will play. We do not cancel
due to weather. If a player decides conditions are not conducive

for play, call the Pro Shop to cancel as soon as possible.

DRESS CODE
Acceptable attire for ladies on the Golf Courses: skirts, dresses,
shorts, skorts, culottes, slacks, and capris. All skirts, dresses,
shorts, and skorts must be an appropriate length. Shirts must
have EITHER a collar or sleeves and must cover the midriff. Soft

Spike Golf Shoes are required on both golf courses.
Unacceptable attire on the Golf Courses: blue jeans, sweatpants, yoga pants,
cut-off shorts, cut-off collared shirts, short shorts/skirts, gym shorts, medical
scrubs, any top that shows the midriff, tube tops, tank tops, halter tops, and

swimming apparel.

The NHCC Women’s Golf
Association (WGA)
Membership:

Any women with golf privileges, including
dependent daughters ages 18-23 years old

residing at home, are entitled to
membership in the WGA. Each WGA
member will be assessed $60.00 per year,
billed through the Accounting Office. To
receive benefits and golf awards, you will
need a handicap. You may either transfer
your handicap or establish one at Norwood.

PACE OF PLAY

The Game of Golf is most enjoyable when it can be played
without undue delays caused by slow play. Please use the
following suggestions to improve your pace of play.
 Keep pace with the group in front of you. If there is an

open hole in front of you, you are out of position and need
to speed up play. Do not look backward to establish pace
of play.
 Think about your next shot as you drive to your ball.
 Take several clubs with you when you walk to your
ball—The one you think you will use, plus others you
might use.
 Drive the cart as a team. While one player walks to her
ball the other player drives up the cart path opposite her
ball. Do not wait for a player to return to the cart before
proceeding to the next ball.
 In Stroke Play, if safe and not interfering, playing out of
turn is permissible. USGA Decision 10-2C/2.
 The first player whose ball is on the green should drive
the cart to the appropriate position behind or beside the
green.
 Study your line of putt while others are preparing to putt.
Do not wait until it is your turn.
 Leave the green and immediately drive to the next tee.
Then put your clubs away and take out the club you will
use next.
 Record scores at the tee, not greenside.

WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM

Under the new World Handicap System the highest
score on any given hole will be a net double bogey,
replacing the previous component of equitable stroke
control.

The maximum score for each hole played is limited to a
net double bogey - which is equal to Par of the hole + 2
strokes (double bogey) + any handicap strokes the
player is entitled to receive on that hole based on their
Course Handicap.

For example, a player with a Course Handicap of 12
entitled to one additional stroke on holes allocated with
stroke index 1 through 12 on the scorecard. On a par 4
hole, with a Stroke index 1 through 12 on the
scorecard. On a par 4 hole, with a Stroke Index of 10,
the player’s maximum score would be 4 (par) + 2
(double bogey) +1 (stroke received) = 7.

When the format of play allows, players are encouraged
to pick up at their maximum hole score to keep up a
good pace. For competitions, the adjustment is applied
after the round. This means that the score posted for
the competition and the score submitted for handicap
purposes could be different.
