They are necessary for pupils’ growth. Give your opinion: I believe we should have exams in schools. Main body (Argument 1) Topic sentence: Firstly, exams help pupils to learn and digest information. Supporting sentences: Pupils often work hard to study for exams because they want to do well. Therefore, exams encourage pupils to revise and apply what they have learned. Main body (Argument 2) Topic sentence: Secondly, exams help teachers to assess their pupils. Supporting sentences: They can find out how much their pupils have learnt from their lessons. This will allow teachers to know which pupil needs more help. Conclusion Summary: Exams should be made compulsory in schools. They help pupils to learn better. They also help teachers to assess their pupils so that teachers would know which pupils need help to improve in their studies. 31 LS 4.3.3 PL 1 2 3 4 5 6 LS 4.2.5 PL 1 2 3 4 5 6 Name: ................................................................ LS: 1.2.2, 4.3.2 The Bermuda Triangle Florida Bermuda North Atlantic Ocean Puerto Rico The Bermuda Triangle is one of the most (1) mysterious places in the world. It is also known as the Devil’s Triangle. The area sits at the North Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda, Puerto Rico and Miami, (2) south of Florida. There are many reports about (3) strange happenings in the area. Some ships were (4) discovered completely abandoned for no apparent reason, while some (5) disappeared without a trace. Many people (6) believe that the disappearances were caused by supernatural forces such as aliens, sea monsters, time warps and many more. Meanwhile, others believe that these disappearances could be (7) explained by listing the weather, magnetic waves or human error as the causes. Although there are many theories about the Bermuda Triangle, there is no single theory that can solve the (8) mystery . It is also (9) reported that mysterious disappearances do not happen more frequently there than in other well-travelled sections of the ocean. In fact, many boats and planes travel (10) safely through the Bermuda Triangle every day. Audio PAK-21 Activity: Surf and Wave 1. Organic vs Inorganic Food Recently, we see more organic food being sold in grocery stores. Many will wonder, what makes organic food organic? Organic food is food that is grown and processed in a healthy, safe and natural way. Most people believe that organic food is a lot healthier than non-organic food. This is actually not very true. Firstly, organic food may have a bit more nutrients than non-organic food. However, we can still get a lot of nutrients even when we eat an apple that is not organic. Secondly, some organic food might still have a lot of sugar, salt, fat or calories. For example, organic ice cream, crisps and fizzy drinks contain a lot of sugar, salt, fat and calories. They are not healthy foods even though they are organic. That is why it is important to read the labels on food packaging. In my opinion, people do not have to stop buying non-organic food entirely. Yes, growing organic food is better for the environment as it uses less chemicals, but organic food is expensive and not always healthier than non-organic food. 10. Which statement is true about organic food? A It is not sold in grocery shops. B It does not contain any sugar, salt, fat or calories. C It is grown and processed in a healthy, safe and natural way. One day, five children, including Charlie go on a tour of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory after they find golden tickets in five Wonka bars. The tour is eventful. Four of the children are removed from the tour in funny ways due to their behaviour. Charlie does not misbehave during the tour and is the remaining child. For example, I always get a piece of cake on my birthday 2. Many children get cavities because they eat too many sweets 3. They should be taught that sweets are not a main part of their diet 4. Children may start to crave sweets more and more 5. They should be allowed to eat sweets sometimes 6. It’ll be harder for them to change their habits later in life B. (Accept any suitable answer) I agree with Fatima. I believe children should not be allowed to have sweets because they are unhealthy. Eating too many sweets can lead to various health problems, like weight gain, cavities, and tooth decay. Furthermore, children may become addicted to sweets, leading to unhealthy eating habits. If children eat sweets all the time, they might not learn to make healthy choices and will find it hard to change their unhealthy eating habits later in life. Speaking 1 A. 2.
