Tips This sentence shows how tall and heavy PSBOHVUBOT DBO HSPX The People of the Forest The rainforests of Malaysia and Indonesia are home to the largest tree-living mammals – orangutans. In Bahasa Melayu, the word ‘orangutans’ means ‘the people of the forest’. Orangutans have got long arms and reddish-brown fur. They can grow up to 1.5 metres and weigh up to 100 kilos. Orangutans are smart. They can use tools, build nests, and communicate with one another using different sounds and gestures. These incredible creatures are unfortunately at risk. Their habitats are being destroyed by human activities. Deforestation to make way for farming and plantation is causing orangutans to lose their homes and food sources. Besides that, orangutans are being hunted for illegal trade. There are an estimated 14,000 orangutans left in the wild. They might go extinct within the next few decades if we do nothing to protect them. We can help orangutans by protecting their habitats. We can also lessen the need for palm oil and timber. Lastly, we can also show our support to the organisations that are working hard to protect orangutans. ܖ :communicate gestures: ൵ incredible: Ҋफ़ඹၸ֭ trade: ડણ 3 4 P4 ©SASBADI
