นิทานอีสปเรื่อง คนตัดฟืนกับงูพิษ (The Woodman and the Serpent)
One wintry day, a Woodman was tramping home from his work when he saw something black lying on the snow. วันหนึ่งในฤดูหนาว ขณะที่คนตัดฟืนผู้หนึ่งกำ ลังเดินกลับบ้านหลังจากเสร็จงาน เขาเหลือบไปเห็นอะไรบางอย่างสีดำ ทอดตัวอยู่ในหิมะ
When he came closer he saw it was a Serpent to all appearance dead. เมื่อเขาเข้าไปใกล้มันเขาก็เห็นว่ามันคืองูตัวหนึ่ง ลักษณะเหมือนตาย
But he took it up and put it in his bosom to warm while he hurried home.
