the side and adding a white shoe-tie.
Steps: Cut straight with a pair of scissors down one side of
the seam - alternatively unpick the stitching.
Fold back the two freshly cut sides and whilst sewing down,
sew on some loops at equal distances. We added 11 loops
in total but if you want tighter criss-crosses add more closer
together.
Grab a lace or ribbon and loop through the holes and tie in
a bow at the end.

Salmon Basic Vest: Primark, £1.80

We turned this boring, basic vest top into a stylish summer
crop top by cutting up and plaiting sections of the bottom
1/3 of the top. Perfect to wear over a bikini and keep cool
in the hot sun!
Steps: Measure out 16 sections across the bottom and then
divide these sections into 3 for the plaits.
Cut along in a stright line up to 1/3 of the tops length.
Once you have your 42 individual strips of material start
plaiting and secture with a knot at the bottom.

Winning a cake competition
was the cherry on top

After winning the ‘Great Church Bake Off’ Wendy Leaney decided to turn
her hobby and love of cakes into a business. She is now the proud owner
of Celebrate with Cake and has made cakes for all occasions - even a red
bus cake serving 100 people! As well as making commissoned cakes, she
also teaches cookery lessons at two local schools and if she couldn’t be
any busier Wendy also runs baking workshops for adults. She spoke to
Amy Catlin about her journey.
