JINDAL POWER LIMITED, TAMNAR
LIGHTING THE FUTURE
JINDAL POWER LIMITED
Jindal Power Limited’s illustrious voyage began way back in 2007
when the young entity became the first in the private sector to
enthusiastically venture into the power business with a 1000 MW
mega power project. JPL set up the ambitious 4x250 MW coal-fired
Independent Power Plant (IPP) in the Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh
and since then, this flagship subsidiary of Jindal Steel & Power
Limited (JSPL) has benchmarked operational excellence with an
industry-leading PLF of 93% (average for last seven years).
Enthused with the success story of its first IPP, the company spread
its wings in Tamnar, Chhattisgarh with a 2,400 MW (4X600 MW)
thermal power plant. Today, JPL is one of the leading power players
in the country that owns and operates the largest power station
complex in the state of Chhattisgarh— 3400-MW installed facility at
a single location- which is in perfect synergy with Government of
India’s objective of ‘24X7 Power for All’.
During this journey, the company also built several integrated facilities
that include an 18m high dam over the Kurket River, 25 km away from
the project site, to feed water to the power plant. A 258-km long
400-KV double circuit transmission line has also been constructed to
pump in the generated power into the National Grid.
JPL has been instrumental in pioneering and adopting several state-
of-the-art technologies, innovations, operational efficiencies and
best practices in project execution and management, thereby setting
new benchmarks in India’s power sector. The company envisions
becoming a significant power player offering quality and affordable
power to all, and is committed towards building nation of our dreams.
