ANGUL MANUFACTURING FACILITY


Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) is on course to establish a 6 MTPA Integrated
Steel Complex at Angul, Odisha. The company has already commissioned a 1.8 MTPA
DRI plant alongwith a 810 MW power generation unit at Angul. The state-of-the-art steel
making facility has a 1.2 MTPA Plate Mill and a 1.2 MTPA Bar Mill for producing cutting-
edge finished steel products. The soon-to-be-completed 4 MTPA Blast Furnace at the
Angul Steel Complex will be the most modern and largest furnace of its kinds in India.

JSPL’s Angul facility is World’s largest Coal Gasification based Steel plant. The one-of-
its-kind Coal Gasification Plant (CGP) converts domestic coal into synthetic gas (syngas)
to produce DRI. The Plate Mill at Angul is capable of producing Plates of upto 5-metre
width, the widest in the world. With a strong emphasis on product innovations, the Plate
Mill at Angul has capability to produce special grade plates used in Oil & Gas pipelines,
Defence and Nuclear applications amongst a host of others. The 1.2 MTPA Bar Mill,
the recent most addition to Angul complex, manufactures the best of the class Jindal
Panther TMT Rebars, the most-preferred TMT Rebar brand in India.

Being the recent most Greenfield ventures of its kind and scale, JSPL’s Angul Steel
Complex is equipped with the latest steelmaking and allied process controlled by
futuristic information technology systems for highest levels of quality, resilience,
flexibility and precision. The raw material handing systems at Angul feature amongst
the most efficient and effective mechanisms deployed at any steel plant worldover. With
a unique geographical location, Angul Steel Complex is in close proximity to sources
of raw materials like Iron ore and Coal; as well as Ports. Well connected by roads and
railways, Angul has amongst the best transportation infrastructure – both for inward
movement of raw material as well as dispatch of semi’s and finished steel to its domestic
and global customers.


The Angul Steel Complex has created thousands of direct and indirect employment
opportunities in the state of Odisha. The complex has a state-of-the-art township with
best class housing, education, healthcare and social facilities for employees, and the
society at large around the complex. JSPL’s Angul Steel Complex anchors an employment
eco-system for 50,000 families in the adjoining belts.
