LEADERSHIP MOMENT:
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at
times of challenge and controversy.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Greetings, my Lovely Lambda Omega Sorors!
During 2021, Lambda Omega has given her all to carried out the goals and objectives of the
Sorority’s international platform, lovingly entitled Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable
Service, under the brilliant leadership of Supreme Basileus Glenda Glover.
Kudos, to your out-of-the-box thinking and determination to serve in Excellence.
I cannot believe this is also the last month of my first term as Basileus. Time waits for no man.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your confidence in the “Strengthening our
Foundation – Sisterhood and Sisterliness” administration. Even in these more challenging times,
you continued to make each activity successful. This year has been packed with Target
Programs, Committee Activities, Impact Days, Officer Elections, Budget Planning, Chapter
Evaluation, and Exciting Sisterly Relations Interactions. From the beginning, we knew that the
Lovely Lambda Omega was up for the task!
Some of our performance highlights include the following:
International Award: 2021 Green Diamond Award, presented by Alpha Kappa Alpha
Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc.
Mid-Atlantic Regional Award: 2021 Target 1 Signature Program #CAP – Runner Up
Award
Mid-Atlantic Regional Award: 2021 Target 1 HBCU for Life: A Call to Action – Runner
Up Award
Congratulations, to Lambda Omega’s incoming officers: Second Anti-Basileus: Soror April
Raines; Grammateus: Soror Emma Flood; Epistoleus: Soror Rachel Whiteman; Tamiouchos:
Soror Veronica Boston; Ivy Leaf Reporter: Soror MiKayla Raines; and Graduate Advisor: Soror
Gail Jenkins! I would also like to thank our continuing officers, committee chairmen, committee
members, and all who serve our amazing Sisterhood.
As the new year approaches, let's enjoy this time of peace and joy with our family and friends. I
wish you all a Very Merry Christmas! “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the
government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The
mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6 KJV)
Sisterly,

December 2021 Vol 37 Issue 10
Greetings Sorors,
This year continued with social and racial unrest, political heartbreak, and economic hardship
for many. While those things do not define who we are, it is because of them and others
similar that we unite to be a voice, create solutions, and provide support to those in need in
our community. During these unprecedented times, Lambda Omega’s service to the
community has never been more relevant and needed.
What we have done this year is absolutely phenomenal. The impact we were able to make is
because of your dedication to service locally and afar. Thank you for finding ways to continue
helping our most vulnerable populations, assisting students with the college admissions
process, educating sorors and the community on health and wellness, and growing economic
awareness during the pandemic. Because of your efforts, we have delivered over 50 activities,
donated over 900 items, and volunteered over 400 hours of service to all mankind in 2021.
Our chapter was able to make an impact because of you!
The Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service Target Program remains our
priority. When we return in 2022, we will be ready to finish our programs with the same
enthusiasm and commitment as we started. With six months left, lets keep the momentum and
finish strong.
As we enter the holiday season, take time to relax and make memories with your loved ones.
Let’s put our LOVE work on hold for a short moment to get some much need rest and truly
love up on family, friends, and self. See in you 2022 ready to resume our service activities.
I wish each of you a wonderful Christmas and pray that the coming year is full of many
blessings for you and your family. Happy holidays!
Warm sisterly regards,
Soror Karen Bazemore-Person

“MEMBERSHIP IS PEARLFECTION” - SOROR TRACEY MORANT
Thank you, Lambda Omega, for allowing me to serve as Second Anti-Basileus for the past two
years. When I was nominated for this position, I had no idea how serving Lambda Omega
would impact my life. I ask each Soror to ALWAYS remember that we are Sisters who are
bonded together to SERVE our communities. Let’s live the legacy of Ethel as we continue to
make Alpha Kappa Alpha, SUPREME in Service to ALL Mankind.
As I reflect upon my tenure in this position, I am proud of the following:
Thank you VERY much for pushing me beyond my comfort zone. I wish Lambda Omega all the best in the future.
Committee Updates: Sisterly Relations will continue to celebrate birthdays during each chapter meeting. Please submit your photos
during your birthday month. In addition, a Sisterly Relations activity will continue to take place during each chapter meeting.
Unfortunately, the Winter Extravaganza which was proposed by the Social Committee has been canceled. Last, a heartfelt thank
you goes out to Soror Tiffany Geddie-Suggs, Chair of the MIP Committee, for ALL of her support during Nu Epsilon’s MIP.
November's Secret Soror
Soror April Raines, your incoming 2nd Anti-Basileus, resided in Guam. While living in Guam she once went without power for
three full weeks. Our sweet Soror April loves to cook gourmet food. She is a trained dancer and enjoys the styles of ballet, tap, jazz
and praise.
While in high school Soror April was a gymnast and a cheerleader. At the tender age of five she began competing in pageants. I
was surprised to learn Soror April lived in San Diego California for over 10 years (from 3 months to when she was 10 years old).
Soror April Raines thank you for sharing a little bit of you with all of us!

Zoom meeting and connect to the meeting on the day of:
By clicking on the link on the agenda on the previous page (Pg.4)
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information on how to join the
meeting.
1. Arrive a few minutes early.
2. DO NOT announce yourself when you join the Zoom meeting, ESPECIALLY if you are late
and the meeting is already underway.
3. Mute your mic or phone during the meeting unless you are called upon to speak.
4. Do not forget to take your mic or phone off mute if you are speaking.
When you take your mic or phone off mute, make sure background noise is kept to a
minimum so you are not distracting others.
When you finish speaking, remember to put your mic or phone on mute.
5. Treat the virtual meeting as if you were meeting face to face:
Don’t interrupt speakers – speak one at a time because it is impossible to understand the
speakers when two or more are speaking at once.
State your name and be recognized by the Basileus before speaking.
Speak loudly and clearly.
Don’t multitask because it rarely works with virtual calls or meetings. To fully participate in
the meeting, eliminate as many distractions as possible, and be focused and committed to the
call.
6. Maintain good computer and phone signal – try to remain in a place where you have a
good phone signal. If you drop the meeting call, do not announce yourself when you
call back in.

https://www.morehouse.edu/about/
https://www.morehouse.edu/about/our-history/
A private, historically-black college for men, Morehouse College opened in 1867 to train former slaves to be Protestant ministers
and educators. Today, Morehouse is one of five colleges in the Atlanta University Center, a complex that has included Morehouse’s
sister school, Spelman College, as well as Clark Atlanta University, Morris Brown College, and the Interdenominational
Theological Center. The affiliated Morehouse School of Medicine opened in 1975.
Although currently located in Georgia’s capital city, Morehouse originated as the Augusta Institute in Augusta, Georgia, just two
years after the Civil War. The Augusta Institute relocated to Atlanta in 1879 and became known as Atlanta Baptist Seminary.
Students initially attended classes in the basement of Friendship Baptist Church. When John D. Rockefeller donated land near
Spelman for the men’s college in the 1880s, the school moved to its present location in southwest Atlanta.
With a current enrollment of approximately 3,000 students, Morehouse offers twenty-six majors in three academic divisions:
Business Administration and Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science and Mathematics. The school has produced
three Rhodes, five Fulbright, five Marshall, and five Luce scholars. Its distinguished alumni include Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
(Nobel Peace Prize laureate and civil rights leader), Spike Lee (filmmaker), Maynard Jackson (former mayor of Atlanta), and
Samuel L. Jackson (actor).
