Questions to Ask Yourself When Selecting
Projects:
● Is this a project I like or think I will like?
● Will this project cost money? How much is
this project going to cost? Where will I get
the money?
● Is the space and equipment I will need to
complete this project available?
● How much time will it take?
● Is there someone who can help me if I need
it?

Conference judging is a conversation between
the judge and the 4-H’er. It is a chance for you to
explain to a judge what you have learned from
your project experience. It allows time to ask a
judge questions that you may have about your
project.
What can I expect during conference judging?
The interview is as important as the exhibit itself:
an equal “weight” is given on the actual exhibit
and on the conference—50/50.
The judge, who is knowledgeable in the project
area, determines the ribbon placing.
Judges will observe, question, listen and
challenge you.
Judges offer encouraging and constructive
feedback, as well as suggestions on how to
further explore the project area.
