RJ'S STORY
WHOSE LIFE WILL
YOU SAVE TODAY?
Hi. My name is RJ.
I'm 17 years old,
and this is my story.
All my life I've been called a tomboy. I
didn't really know what the word
meant, I was just happy to be called a
boy - any type of boy - because that's
what I was. I remember being so happy
and proud that FINALLY, someone could
see me.
Over the past few months, I've started
to identify as trans - but only in my
head - I'm not ready for more than that
yet. I've only been to 3 or 4 YO
meetings, but it feels great to have at
least one time a week when I can be my
true self - when people don't
question me - they just get it.
It feels freeing in a way.
THE BEST PART OF YO:
Being allowed to be 100% myself,
starting to make friends who I don't have
to hide around, finally being talked about
as a boy - "he, him, his..." - that makes
me so happy.
MY WISH FOR 2016:
In 2016 I want to be more comfortable
expressing myself. I want my friends and
family to meet the true me - and still love me.
Throughout Kids in our
WNC, youth community are
perceived as afraid to go to
LGBTQ are school because
regularly teased of this abuse.
and bullied.
They are
pushed around
and beaten up,
just for being
who they are.
Help YO serve and support LGBTQ youth in WNC!
If you believe all students in WNC
deserve to learn in safe environments,
without the fear of being abused, then
Youth OUTright needs your help.
