Rudy’s Thoughts 5

A very warm welcome to all who have come to the Forest

Town Arena for our first home game of 2018/19 and our first
league game of the season.
I would also like to take the opportunity to welcome back
Paul Marshall and his Pickering side after coming up to the
Evo-Stik League with us. We both enjoyed a thoroughly
successful season, and fought in two fantastic contests
against each other. I expect our game today to prove just as
competitive.
I was thoroughly delighted with the way we started our
season last weekend, with our 6-0 win at Kirby Muxloe in the
FA Cup. It was very pleasing to see our hard work from pre-
season pay off, and to think that this was not the best we
can do gives us plenty of confidence for this season.
Kirby are a league below us and the difference in class
showed, but today we face a much tougher side in Pickering
and we will have to be at our best to beat them.
With all the transfers that happened over the summer, it is
hard to know what to expect from our opposition today, we
remain confident that we can take the three points.
On Tuesday night we travel to Spalding United for our first
away league game which we can expect to be a tough
fixture, before we host Rainworth Miners Welfare in an FA
Cup local derby next Saturday. After our perfect start in the
FA Cup, we know this is a winnable game but will be careful
not to underestimate Rainworth.
Let’s pick up where we left off last weekend and continue
our fantastic start.
Enjoy the game and have a safe journey home.
