Verb to be มหี ลกั การใช้ ดงั นี้

1. ถา้ เป็นกริยาสาคญั ในประโยค มีความหมายวา่ เป็น อยู่ คือ

หลกั การใช้กบั ประธานในประโยค

1. ถา้ ประธานที่เป็นเอกพจน์บุรุษที่ 3 ซ่ึงไดแ้ ก่ He She It หรือ ชื่อคนคนเดียว

สตั วต์ วั เดียว และสิ่งของอนั เดียวท่ีถกู กล่าวถึง Verb to be ที่ใช้ คือ is เช่น

*He is a teacher. *Sam is a singer

*She is in the room. *My father is sleeping.

*It is a dog. *The pencil is on the table

2. ถา้ ประธานเป็นเอกพจนบ์ ุรุษที่ 1 ( ผพู้ ดู คนเดียว ) ซ่ึงไดแ้ ก่ I Verb to be

ที่ใช้ คือ am

*I am a student. * I am under the table.

3. ประธานเป็นพหูพจนท์ ุกบุรุษ ซ่ึงไดแ้ ก่ We You They หรือ ชื่อคนหลาย

สตั วห์ ลายตวั และสิ่งของหลายอนั ท่ีถูกกล่าวถึง Verb to be ที่ใช้ คือ

*They are policemen. *Suda and her friends are under the tree.

หมายเหตุ รูปย่อของ ปฏเิ สธ Verb to be คอื is not ย่อเป็ น isn’t

am not จะไม่ใช้รูปย่อ are not ย่อเป็ น aren’t

เอา Verb to be มาวางหนา้ ประโยค และเอาประธานของประโยคมาวาง

เรียงต่อจากVerb to be หลงั จบประโยค ตอ้ งใส่เคร่ืองหมายคาถาม เช่น

He is in the room. เปลี่ยนเป็น Is he in the room ?

They are soldiers เปล่ียนเป็น Are they soldiers?
