HEALTH CENTERS
Ingham Community Health Centers (ICHC) are comprised of eleven care delivery sites in
Lansing. They were the first public-entity administered Federally Qualified Health Centers
in the state.

2021 HIGHLIGHTS
In 2021, Ingham Community Health Centers successfully passed the Health Resources and
Services Administration site visit with zero major findings and scored a rating of 100%
compliance.
ICHC received $4,255,625 in funding from HRSA to support health center operations during the
COVID-19 pandemic.
ICHC was recognized a one of the top Ryan White programs in the state by the Michigan
Department of Health and Human Services.
ICHC was once again recognized as a Health Equity Index Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality
by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

The Communicable Disease Control Division (CD) is responsible for the epidemiological
investigation, prevention, intervention, control, and surveillance of communicable diseases in
Ingham County to protect the public's health.

Strength, Resiliency, and a
SHOT OF HOPE
As the COVID-19 pandemic continued, the ability to face the challenges presented head-on and
overcome never wavered. Administering the new COVID-19 vaccines proved to be no
different. ICHD's dedicated team of public health professionals stood up one of the largest
mass-vaccination sites in Michigan at the MSU Pavilion where nearly 100,00 doses of vaccine
were given between December of 2020 and June of 2021. Countless vaccination clinics were
held across the county throughout 2021 to ensure access to all.

HEALTH
Environmental Health (EH) protects the public from adverse impacts of environmental factors
(man-made, natural, biological, or chemical) by responding to complaints and enforcing
federal, state, and local statutes.

118 The Land and Water staff completed 597 point of sale reviews
Well Permits in 2021, the most ever completed since the beginning of the

HEALTH PROMOTION
AND PREVENTION
Health Promotion and Prevention (HPP) works to promote wellness and prevent illness
across the lifespan. Initiatives focus on maintaining the health and well-being of adults and
families in the county.

CANCER
The Mobile Health Unit held 121 events in BREAST
underserved areas throughout Ingham County, CANCER
offering health services, vaccinations, and
health resources.
The HPP division conducted 139 trainings and
trained 587 people to use naloxone (Narcan), a
rescue medication for emergency treatment of
overdose. HPP staff also distributed 360
Naloxone kits.
Pathways to Care Program staff completed
5,699 home, shelter, jail, encampment, and/or
phone visits with more than 600 clients.

MATERNAL AND
CHILD HEALTH
Maternal and Child Health (MCH) provides home visiting, community nursing, nutrition
education, and social work services. MCH staff meet families in homes, schools, and other
community settings to provide preventative services that focus on improving health outcomes.

2021 HIGHLIGHTS
MCH provided childbirth education sessions for families who were pregnant and nearing
delivery, serving 34 individuals and their 6 support people.
Strong Start | Healthy Start program staff held a virtual Fatherhood conference,
Reflections of Fatherhood, with 8 speakers and over 90 community members. The
conference focused on the importance of dads in improving health outcomes for our
infants and families.

making and to address social determinants of health, while developing partnerships and engaging
