This season, the varsity track team had two state
qualifiers, seniors Michelle Robinson and Naythan
Haslam.
Haslam has had to train harder than previous years to
be able to make it to states for an individual event. This
season he made it for the 200 and 400 meter dash.
"I made sure that I attacked every workout my coaches
gave me as hard as I could. Playing multiple sports,
including football also really helped me get stronger for
track," Haslam said.
Robinson qualified for states individually at the
regional meet, placing second for discus. She has had
many motivators this season, helping her to be able to
make it to the state meet.
"I've improved with the help of not only my team
mates, but also with the help of my fellow throwers from
the rest of the league," Robinson said.
Haslam made it to the state meet and Nationals his
junior year, as well, for a relay. He was able to push
himself even harder his senior year, making it alone.
"It felt really good to make it to states individually my
senior year. It has opened up more opportunities for me
to be able to get offers and scholarships for Track and
Field," Haslam said.
Both Robinson and Haslam have dedicated both their
time and effort into the team this season, going out with
a bang by making states.
