Dr. DuBose came to the rescue! Dr. DuBose gave the heart a
shock of electricity with the AED machine. The heart and the
brain argued that feelings and thinking are both important. They
go out for lunch and have tacos! They both got a chicken taco.
They both love the chicken taco. They continue their walk
together. Dr. DuBose came back, they all had a talk together. The
heart and the brain talked with Dr. DuBose about how the heart
and the brain are both important. The heart is important because
50
he is in charge of all the feelings. The brain is in charge of all the
thoughts.
They opened a
taco stand
together. They
got 50 people
in the morning
and in the
afternoon they
got 100 people.
The people
shouted “Yay!”
The people
loved the tacos
the made. They
made chicken
tacos and bean
and cheese
burritos. Dr.
DuBose came
by and said “I
will give you 50
cents for a
chicken taco.”
On Saturdays
and Sundays
they are closed. Every other day they are open. The brain and
the heart tried a chicken taco. They loved the chicken taco. They
both ate the whole thing. They made another kind of taco. They
go back to their walk in the park. They said “It is better when we
work together!”
They said it together. They gave each other a high five.

The End. Tacos!
Mr. Heart Finds His Heart by Vik Sathyaraj
There once was a hard working heart pumping “Thump thump
thump thump!” His name was Mr. Heart. He seemed like a nice
guy or heart.
Ha, no I was just kidding, he was mean and sometimes he even
didn’t function right heart. He didn’t even know what nice was or
mean was.
He did not have and friends that made him mad and sad. He
behaved so bad no one liked him, not even Mrs. Brain liked him.
So he went away to the MOST dangerous part of the body, the
foot. There were tons of millions of foot fungus or ATHLETE’S
FOOT floating around but then he felt a tingling sensation - did
he have a good or a bad heart or did he have no heart? He kept
52
on wondering and wondering. Would he never have a heart or
will he discover he has a heart?
He felt a thump
thump. Could
that be his
heart? Na, no
way, he
couldn’t have a
heart, he wasa
heart. He
couldn’t keep
his mind off his
question. Did
he even have
any friends
anymore?
What if his
friends didn’t like him anymore? He was sad, worried, and most
of all scared. He didn’t know what to do or say.
He was peaceful but back in his town everyone was worried. The
mailman came to him, he didn’t have a smile- he had a worried
face. He gave Mr. Heart a letter, it had a Rite Aid symbol. This
could mean something bad was going to happen. He read the
letter and it said: your children are in danger. He gasped widely.
Then he felt a thump thump! He had a heart! He was so surprised,
he was blown away that he had a heart. It was impossible, it was
ridiculous, it was a myth! He almost fainted. He was amazed. He
went back to his village (he had calmed down) he told everybody
about his mysterious discovery.
53
His exciting
discovery
spread all over
town. It was on
T.V., it was on
the newspaper,
even the king
knew about it!
Mr. Heart was
flattered, a
little too
flattered.
Everyone
wanted to take
pictures of him.
They talked about Mr. Heart nonstop. Mr. Heart gladly accepted
the money that the people of heart town gave him. He loved
being noticed in life. Even though he sometimes wore ripped
clothes and was a little pushy in line. Sometimes only sometimes,
not all of the time. Mr. Heart was too happy when somebody said
you are mean, he would explode.
Mrs. Brain was once walking by his house when Mrs. Brain saw Mr.
Heart relaxing, watching CNN. He was eating nachos and candy
and then Mrs. Brain went inside Mr. Heart’s house. Ms. Brain’s
mouth watered at the fact of seeing sugar and nachos. So then
instantly she raced for the doorbell but right before she rang the
doorbell she had to breathe. “Goal achieved”, she said to herself
and then she rang the doorbell. Ms. Brain went inside Mr. Heart’s
house. Mrs. Brain joined Mr. Heart. Mr. Heart accidently got
happy and maybe got too happy. But then he almost turned evil,
but then he saved himself by turning peaceful again.

The End
The Heart Scientist by Will Allderdice
A couple weeks ago or two days away, there lived a scientist in
which studied the heart. But he did not know that he would go on
an adventure to find the hearts through time.
“Huh?” he said, “what’s this?” he was looking at a red disc. Oh, did
I forget to mention his name is Johnson?
“Oh,” said Johnson, “I know what I’m seeing, that is a red blood
cell. Let me get my microscope.”
55
And well, Johnson saw something he never had before. It had
little sparks flying out of it!
“O.M.G.!” said Johnson, “I must test my time machine!” So he put
the (robotic?) red blood cell in and a sheep. Later… KA BLOOIE!
The time machine blew up!
