than the name suggests. From
leadership to teambuilding, there
is so much to learn.
As a first-time camper, I overcame
so much and gained so many skills
that can benefit me into eternity.
Activities such as energisers, taught
me to get out of my comfort zone
and to just have fun. In one of the
teambuilding activities we had to
balance a netball ball on a bucket
and walk with it to the other side.
This showed me the importance of
working together and depending
on each other.
In the Bible games we had a lot of fun
and not only that, we also learned a
lot and it tested our knowledge. The
leadership games taught me the im-
portance of communication and to
lead by example. The theme of this
year's camp is “Let your light shine”.
In all the fun and games activities we
as campers really let our light shine
by supporting and encouraging one

The cookout this year was the best!
We had four teams of six campers
with one staff member per team to
help us. The theme was a South Af-
rican braai (barbeque) with salads.
The teamwork was phenomenal.
Each team had a name: Team one
was Food Masters; Team two was
Braai Masters; Team three was Ra-
tatouille and Team four was Team
Yummy. The winning team was Food
Masters.
The points for each team were
awarded for the taste of the food,
teamwork, decorations on the table
and presentation. The theme of this
year's camp was to let your light
shine before men, Matthew 5:14. We
all let our light shine by helping one
another and giving others a chance
to also participate. Sbusiso said:“I en-
joyed the camp because I got to learn
how to braai and cook like a master.”
I asked one of our new campers
what they enjoyed the most of the
cookout. Megan said that she en-
joyed working with others in a team
and making potato salad for her
team.
In conclusion Lauren Nelson once
said: ‘Cooking may not add years to
your life, but it will surely add life to
your years.’

Can anyone guess what
kind of exercise is best for
water polo players? Some of
you might guess right: yes,
pull-ups! This year water polo
was again a highlight for most
campers.
Let me explain what water
polo is. Water polo is a com-
petitive team sport played in
water between two teams.
During four quarters, the two
teams score goals by throw-
ing the ball into the oppos-
ing team's goalposts. The
team with the most goals at
the end of the game wins the
match. There are seven players
per side: six field players and
one goalkeeper. This year Mr
Michael Wallace again pre-
sented the water polo, starting
with a briefing where the rules
were explained. In Wellington’s
December heat a game of wa-
ter polo was just what the doc-
tor ordered. How often do you
get to cool down, while actu-
ally busy with a class?
At the end of the game, I didn’t
even hear what the score was,
but I do know that the yellow
team won by far. In keeping
with the camp theme of letting
your light shine, we all did this
through teamwork, leadership
and motivating each other. So,
like the goalie said to the ball:
‘Catch you later!’

TRUE CHRISTIAN OF GOD..." dance amazingly like Lizzy and
Michael, while others can sing beau-

some got to display their talents.
Social distancing restrictions posed
some challenges to the dance class,
but these were overcome by the
ingenuity of the activity directors.
Line dancing was the way to go. We
learned to do the ‘Jerusalema’, cha-
cha, salsa and other line dances.
Many of us struggled at first but
soon we all managed the moves. I
enjoyed learning these new moves.
The theme of camp this year was
being the light of the world. For
me this means that you have to be
examples to the world, by being
a true Christian of God, following
and doing God’s commandments,
being humble at all times and re-
specting everyone in the world, but
not following their bad examples.

Christian Living
Megan Ninneman
For me as a first-time camper,
attending the Christian Liv-
ing classes was one of the best
things about camp. The Chris-
tian Living classes help you
to become better, to let your
light shine and being a living
example to your friends and
everyone in this dark world.
The ministers taught us to be
different by living a life pleas-
ing to God. They taught us life
lessons which we can apply in
our day to day lives, all referring
back to Matthew 5:14-16, so we
can remember why we were at
camp. Christian Living taught
me many lessons. My goal is now
to learn to apply these lessons
in my life and let my light shine
and glorify our Father in heaven.
The ministers taught us to be

their structure steady, employ-

The indoor noodle hockey was a
fun, tiring and enjoyable game.
In indoor noodle hockey there is
a lot of running, fun and bond-
ing. Staff members also joined the
game by playing a staff vs. camp-

and everyone had so much fun.
The game doesn’t always go as you
expect. The one time I scored a goal
not even 20 seconds into the game,
but that match ended up in a draw!
I tried to let my light shine by be-

glorify your father in heaven." DARKNESS INTO HIS MARVELLOUS
This theme was carried throughout camp and the LIGHT" 1 PETER 2:9
daily Christian Living Classes and presented by Messrs.
Peter Nathan, Lawdi Ferreira, Patrick Wallace and Ryan van
der Watt.
The theme slotted in well with the times we live in where
the world is covered in spiritual darkness. Many people
have lost hope in the midst of a world pandemic, and they
are looking for light, hope and solutions to their problems.
Our young people are facing tremendous challenges and
the use of social media has become one of Satan’s main
tools to target young minds; trying to pull them into dark-
ness. According to research, social media has become a
massive part of our modern culture and is one of the main
causes of depression and suicide among young people.
Many of these platforms manipulate users by using algo-
rithms that encourage addiction to their platforms. This is
something that parents and teens need to carefully con-
sider.
There is a spirit being that the Bible calls “the prince of the
power of the air,” and he is directing “the course of this
world” (Eph 2:2). He is the prince of darkness and the one
deceiving the whole world (Rev 12:9).
Christ explained that the lamp of the body is the eye (Mat
6:22). The "lamp" that He was referring to is your vision, it
is where you have your eyes focused on, and it is where you
have your attention.
There are two very different walks of life. Our modern value
system and standards of the world is becoming more and
more conflicting with God’s way of life. We live in times
where society “calls evil good, and good evil” and where
they “put darkness for light, and light for darkness” (Isa
5:20). We as followers of Christ, which includes our young
people, are called to be a light for others. Our teens and
young people have the opportunity to be an example to
other young people, even though some might dislike you
and make fun of you.
By turning on a light or by lighting a candle, darkness dis-
appears. This is a simple law of physics which is also a
spiritual law, that light and darkness do not occupy the
same space at the same time.
God has “called you out of darkness into His marvellous
light” (1 Pet 2:9). When we keep walking in that light by
being obedient to God’s law of love, His commandments
(John 14:15, 21; John 15:10; 2 John 1:6), then we can rest
assured that Satan and his demons cannot tolerate the
spiritual light of God's Spirit and the Truth and all our fears,
worries and sadness disappear (2 Tim 1:7).
Keep on walking in the light of the Truth. Use every Sab-
bath to reflect back on the past week to ensure that you
remain steadfast in that light and to ensure that God’s light
is shining through you (Phil 2:5; Gal 2:20). Never let the
darkness of this world dim your light. Keep shining! Stay
bright because the world needs your light!

B LYP SA 2020
FINAL WORD
Mr. Peter Nathan
Thanks to campers and staff members for all the memories of camp 2020. It was a great camp that even
an old timer like myself can remember with great pleasure.
It’s been a great exercise reviewing the effort that has gone into the production of this magazine.
The articles, the layout and design of the magazine are something that should make each of you
contributors very pleased. Well done to all. Those contributions are a real means of letting your light
shine in this darkened world.
Camp has clearly shown you that being a light also means you can do enjoyable things. How many of
you had ever thought of doing abseiling before? There are plenty of other activities that you can try.
And then to hone your skills in other sports that we do year after year is great as well. To learn good
sportsmanship and teamwork is essential. True teamwork is a great example of outgoing concern
that causes your light to shine brightly. Likewise, learning to be humble in victory and gracious in
defeat, as one person put it, is a great way to let our light shine. We set an example for people to
note, as those qualities are so lacking in this world where so many care only about themselves.
We need to be constantly aware of being light bringers to those around us. A situation I expe-
rienced highlights this well. Many years ago, as a Regional Director, I visited the congregation
in the city in which I had grown up. In discussing matters with the Pastor, he mentioned a new
person who would be attending services that Sabbath. When he described the person and
where she lived, I immediately knew who it was. It was the lady who ran the front office of the
Chartered Accountants where I had worked for several years in my late teen-age and early
twenties. Yes, I also was young once! My question was what sort of example I had set and
whether my conduct in those days had been positive. Like you campers, I wasn’t baptised
at that time, but my parents were in the church and I knew a lot about what the church
believed. So, was my meeting her again, by now in the context of the church, going to
produce positive or negative reactions? What sort of light had I shined back then. It all
worked out well. I wasn’t one of the young men who came in on Monday mornings
hungover from the weekend.
Being a light to the world is not just a thing for camp, but something to be part of our
everyday life.
So well done everyone and thanks especially to Patricia Wallace for putting this
magazine together, a memento of a time you can reflect on with pleasure and
satisfaction.
See you again at Camp 2021.
