our impact goalabout our campsThe Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command provides two unique summer campopportunities for local children.Day Camp - Local Camps at our Suffolk Corps and Community Center & Kroc Hampton RoadsEach day,campers participate in a balanced schedule of educationalenrichment,creative arts, recreation,character-building activities, andsocial-emotional learning. Children receive nutritious meals andcaring supervision while developing confidence, teamwork, andpositive relationships with peers and mentors. For many families, theprogram also fills a critical gap by providing dependable childcare andpreventing summer learning loss. Beyond traditional campexperiences, Salvation Army Day Camp focuses on whole-childdevelopment—encouraging respect, responsibility, and resiliencewhile helping youth discover their unique talents and potential.Camp Rappahannock - Camp and Retreat CenterLocated in the scenic heart of Virginia, Camp Rappahannock is avibrant summer destination where adventure,community, andfaith come alive. For generations,campers have discoveredunforgettable experiences here—experiences that igniteconfidence, inspire growth, and draw young people closer to God.At Camp Rappahannock, kids step away from screens and stepinto creation,exploring the outdoors in ways that spark wonderand deepen their sense of purpose.Whether they’re hikingwooded trails, paddling the river, scaling the climbing wall, orsharpening their aim at the archery range,campers are surroundedby opportunities to try new things and thrive. Our dedicated staffcreate a safe, joyful, and Christ-centered environment where everycamper is known, valued, and encouraged. Camp Rappahannock ismore than a place to spend the summer—it’s a place wherefriendships form, faith grows, and memories last a lifetime.Our goal is to be able to provide a summer camp experiencefor 500 local children.
