This package is complimentary when booking at least 7 nights in the
Preferred Club Junior Suite Ocean View or higher or if 5 rooms, any
category, are booked for at least 3 nights. This package also applies for
renewal of vows ceremony.

Through our expertise and partnerships with amazing décor suppliers
and chefs specializing in authentic Indian cuisine, you can rest assured

knowing that your traditions and customs will be honored and our
dedicated on-site wedding coordinators will work diligently to create
unique and dynamic wedding events. Our Shaadi Package consists of
six events over the course of three days and inclusive of seventy five
guests. Please work with your dedicated on-site coordinator to tailor

Stay a minimum of 7 nights for your wedding at Secrets Akumal and
earn complimentary nights toward your return stay over your first
anniversary!

Free anniversary nights is valid on all new wedding reservations

All eligible wedding reservations will receive the following when

Important Beach Location Information

We are not able to host a reception or cocktail hour on the beach. The main reason is that we are located in a federal preservation zone which protects several species
of turtles that visit and nests in our beach
Akumal in the Mayan language, means land of the turtles; this means the turtles have been returning to this bay since ancient times faithfully to the same beach each
time as they are ready to nest.
Only the females nest, and it occurs most often at night. The female crawls out of the ocean, pausing frequently as if carefully scoping out her spot. Sometimes she will
crawl out of the ocean, but for unknown reasons decide not to nest. This is a “false crawl,” and it can happen naturally or be caused by artificial lighting or the presence
of people on the beach. Most females nest at least twice during the nesting season, although individuals of some species may nest only once and others more than
ten times. Sea turtles are generally slow and awkward on land, and nesting is exhausting work.
When the Riviera Maya was born the Centro Ecologico Akumal (CEA) or Akumal Ecological Center was created to act as the protector of all ecological matters in
Akumal bay. As tourist activities started to bloom CEA needed to act as a regulatory organism to limit the operations in the bay and therefore make it more sustainable.
Some of their programs focused on taking care of the turtles, monitoring the state of the reef, water quality management and educating people to create conscience
of the ecological importance of preserving the resources of the bay. There are also regular presentations on the CEA Turtle Watch Program, with slides of the sea turtles
and a lecture about their evolution, ecology, behavior, the threats to their survival and how we can help them.
Some other hotels have joined along with CEA to the protective efforts and help the program to take care of the turtles that lay and hatch on their beaches.
Since 2015, this has become a federal law and we are not allowed to perform events on the beach or close to it during nesting season.
