GGU Law JD Viewbook 2020

JD Viewbook 2020

Where Innovation and Justice Meet

Welcome

Welcome to Golden Gate University School of Law! I am delighted that you want to learn more about our
faculty and our school. We have been educating lawyers for more than 115 years, with successful alumni all
over the country.

A legal education at GGU Law is built on five key values:
• You will receive individualized attention from everyone you encounter at GGU Law--
from professors to the wonderful career coaches in our Office of Career Services. This
personalized attention begins with me, as I individually meet with each student within the
first six weeks of starting classes. I want to learn how GGU can help you succeed in law
school, on the bar exam, and in the practice of law.
• You will have the opportunity to participate in unique programs, legal clinics, and
externships designed to prepare you to practice law the moment you graduate.
• Our downtown San Francisco location provides our students access to real-world
opportunities. San Francisco is now the economic and innovative center of our country,
which provides our students with a job market that is one of the best in the world. In fact,
we are just steps from the courts, law firms, advocacy organizations, government agencies,
and the technology and business community.
• Diversity is our strength. We are one of the most diverse law schools in the country, which
provides our students a much richer experience in and out of the classroom.
For example, 62% of last year’s class was racially diverse, 57% were women, 18% were
LGBTQ+, and almost half were first-generation college students.
• We aren’t just a school – we are a community. You will get to know and get incredible
support from your fellow students, the faculty, and the staff. You will quickly become part
of the GGU Law Family!

Now is a great time to become a lawyer. There is an increased need for innovative leaders to help us through
the challenging times in our country and the fast-paced changes in technology and our economy. I can think
of no better place to prepare you to be a lawyer and leader in our community, country, and world than at
GGU Law.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or want to know more about GGU Law.

deep experience in helping students succeed. This
team provides students comprehensive support
that focuses heavily on demonstration, practice,

GGU

has an amazing
environmental law
program and is one of few schools
with an environmental law clinic.
I believed GGU provided me with the
best opportunity to achieve my goal of
being an environmental lawyer.
