Descriptive Paragraph

Walt Diemer accidentally invented bubble gum in 1928
when he was just 23 years old and named it Dubble
Bubble. He took his 5 lbs of gum to a grocery store and
taught the salespeople how to blow bubbles. He sold out
of the product the first day! Walt did not receive any
compensation for his wildly popular creation. Original
main ingredient was chicle. Today gum feels like rubber
because it is actually a synthetic derivative of rubber. It
tastes marvelous because of the artificial and natural
flavors.

It looks pink because of the added food
coloring and it comes in many shapes and
sizes.
Depending on who is chewing, you might hear many
snaps, crackles or pops.

YOU CAN MAKE YOUR
OWN BUBBLE GUM!

First, gather all your ingredients

● 1/2 cup beeswax (make sure it's food grade)
● 1 cup powdered sugar
● 3 tablespoons honey
● Peppermint or cinnamon extract
Second, you will melt the wax in a double boiler on medium high. Melt the
wax until it is soft and gooey.
Third, add flavorings of your choice such as peppermint, cinnamon, lemon
or licorice. About five drops of flavoring will make it taste really nice. Stir
well.
Next, pour the liquid into any shape or size mold that you like. You can use
ice trays, candy molds or other objects.
Last, you need to refrigerate until hard.

Finally! Your gum is ready to chew and blow bubbles.

Compare/contrast Paragraph

Mints and gum are very similar but they do have their
differences. Mints will freshen your breath as well
as gum. However, gum not only freshens your breath, it
usually kills bacteria, eliminating bad breath instead
of just masking it. In addition, gum can help clean
teeth by pulling out food particles and whitening
teeth. Contrary to long lasting gum, mints are meant
to dissolve quickly. So your allowance will disappear
almost as fast as the mint if you have a frequent
habit. Gum comes in a multitude of flavors. Mints, on
the other hand, have a limited selection. As opposed
to mints that dissolve, gum needs to be disposed of
properly.

Cause/Effect Paragraph

Bubble gum has remained popular through the
generations. Consequently, there is a high demand for
the product and many different companies manufacture
it. As a result, a vast amount of people are employed.
Because of bubble gum’s popularity, there are assembly
workers, stock personnel, and cashiers all earning a
living by making and selling bubble gum. Therefore,
there are less jobless people. Also, due to the sugar
content, many cavities are created, further creating
the necessity of a dentist.

Problem/Solution
Paragraph

Gum is very sticky! This can be a major problem. ABC
gum(Already Been Chewed) is found in too many unwanted
places. Consequently, it is against school rules to
chew gum while on school property. Because of gum’s
gooey nature, it is difficult to remove from most
surfaces. This leads to many frustrated janitors
having to spend valuable time degumming tables,
chairs, walls, etc. As a result, students will receive
a strike when they are caught breaking this “no gum”
rule. A solution would be to allow students the
opportunity to brush their teeth after lunch or to use
mints in class.
