Clubs and Activities

Wynmoor Amateur Radio Club

By Ralph Trapper

The W.A.R.C. meets every Friday morning at 9:00 A.M. in the Multi-
Purpose Room, near the Main Pool, and we meet all year round. At 10:00
AM, we move to the “Ham Shack,” located in Room #118, on the West End
of the Administration Building. Visiting Amateur Operators are welcome
to operate from our station, just be sure to bring a copy of your “ticket”
(License) along with you.

Work on the installation of the new vertical antenna is continuing, and

hopefully the ability to add the lower Amateur bands (75 and 40 meters)
will increase our stations communications ability in the very near future.

For further information, please contact Ralph Trapper, W9TWW, at (954)
973-4329.

Wynmoor Emergency Hurricane Net

By Ralph Trapper

It is now June, and we have been preparing for the coming 2017 Hurricane Season.
We started on January 9th, 2017, and continuing still. All past W.H.E.N. operators are
requesting to return your W.H.E.N. “Wynmoor issued” equipment to the main Security
Office, located in the old Comcast building, on the North Road, for testing. We are at the

point that we have a few issued units that have not been returned for testing. We will start

testing in June, so if you have not returned you’re previously issued equipment, please

do so now. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at the numbers given

below.

Testing of the equipment will start in June, as the majority of the gear has been returned.

The sooner we have your previously issued equipment, the sooner we can get testing started

and set up for re-issue. Time is marching on, and the months are passing, so the hurricane

season technically starts on June 1st, and we have to be ready.

Equipment issue will take place Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 9:00 AM in Ballroom “A”

of the Country Club Complex. The first on the air practice to take place in July of 2017.

Watch for the detailed information in the July 2017 issue of The Insider.

Next season’s productions at Stage Door The Broward Center, Broadway Series, wrapped up the season with
are out and it will be an exciting one! “Mama Mia.” The new season starts in October with the beloved “Sound
of Music,” which runs from October 10th - 22nd. Enjoy the beautiful
“Sunshine Boys” by the great Neil music of Rodgers & Hammerstein, and the amazing story of the Von
Simon, will be playing from August 18th Trapp family. Surprise!!! From November 7th - 19th, is “Love Never
- September 24th. This was a hit movie Dies,” Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sequel to “Phantom!” Unbeknownst to
with George Burns and Walter Matthau
(remember, “Enter”). Al and Willie were almost everyone, this sequel opened in London to bad reviews, and Webber
top-billed vaudevillians for over forty
rewrote most of it and kept it under wraps until recently. The story takes
years. Now they aren’t even speaking.
A grudging reunion reunites the two place 10 years after “Phantom” and all the characters meet again. Can’t
wait to see this one! Call Broward Center for tickets, 954-462-0222. Big
when CBS requests them for a “History flash!!!!! “Hamilton” will be at Broward during the 2018-19 season! More
of Comedy” Retrospective. A flood of later. See you next month!
memories, miseries and laughs enthralls the audience as only Neil Simon

“Be Still My Heart!” from September 1st - October 15th, “Saturday Night
Fever,” the musical, will be coming to Stage Door! Don’t miss the grooves
that defined a generation, featuring the iconic sounds of the 1970’s, the
Bee Gee’s “Stayin’ Alive,” “Night Fever,” “More Than A Woman.” Disco
became a new rage in the dance world. This movie introduced John Travolta

to Hollywood, where he remains a star to this day. In addition to the music

and dancing, “Saturday Night Fever” has a wonderful story! Can’t wait!!!
Coming next to Stage Door Theatre, Sample Road, Coral Springs, from

June 16th to July 30th is “Swing, Swing, Swing,” featuring a live band.
