Woodson FFA "In our program there is something for
everyone. We are small, but we are mighty. Our students
execute every activity or project to the best of their ability! Our
members spend hours in the shop, working with their livestock,
memorizing scripts, writing speeches, or they can even be
found in the middle of a pasture texturing soil. Our students step
out of their comfort zones, work hard and celebrate success all
while gaining real work skills.
Back to School Bash '20
"During LDEs and CDEs, I learned that my comfort zone alone is normally what stops me from 53
achieving more. I learned taht there is such a thing as an Organization bigger than myself that
provided me with a home, and that is the FFA. I am going to miss being able to relate with so
many people in one place at a time. I am going to miss the stress of trying to memorize lines for
LDEs or my land card, again, for CDEs. I am going to miss going to contest more than I'm at
school, in class, but most importantly I am going to miss the family that I gained during my time
participating in LDEs and CDEs.

Lights outSaying goodbye to School Year 2020-21
2020-21 started with a bang due to the outbreak of Covid 19 and the National halt to life as we knew it. By
August of 2020, Woodson students were ready to get back to school, begin the football and volleyball seasons and go
back to in-person classes. The entire town was gearing up for Homecoming festivities when COVID invaded
Throckmorton County. Events were canceled or postponed, classes went to virtual learning and families stayed home once
again. After a week, we were able to return back to school, following strict guidelines mandated by the state. During
this time, Mrs. K and the FFA racked up on the LDE banners, including a 3rd place in State for the Radio
Broadcasting team and 2nd place in the Sweepstakes Award in the Single Teacher division. Elementary and JH
Academic UIL won big at the Virtual UIL competition this year as well! The basketball season began, and shortly
after, our community enjoyed a virtual Christmas Program performed by our talented Woodson Elementary students.
Spring semester started off with a cold spell that led to 4" of snow and ice on the roadways...which meant school closed
and our students enjoyed a few snow days. In the meantime, stockshow season really kicked off and Woodson had several
families compete across the state, bringing home MANY awards and honors at some big time shows, including, San
Angelo and Houston. As basketball wrapped up, One Act Play kicked off just in time for another weather event,
affectionately known as, Snowvid-21. The storm wreaked havoc on Texas with wide-spread power outages, supply
shortages and many water problems like busted pipes for the water companies and customers alike. OAP continues to
compete, advancing and our students earning individual awards. As track season winds down, several athletes work
towards the goal of competing at the State Track Meet. Our Academic UIL team had several students compete past
District at the High School level. We look forward to prom and graduation as we celebrate a great year full of
successes!
