Also, paper published in the Indian Journal of Applied Hospitality and Tourism Research Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology Abstract: Hospitality is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, contributing around 8.8 trillion USD to the global economy each year. The development in innovation and the wide array of information access has changed the way people travel. When it comes to booking an accommodation in hotels, instead of making hotel bookings solely through one booking channel, customers now have access to multiple booking channels namely Online Travel Agent (OTA' s) also known as online booking, these are travel websites that provide online facilities for hotels, airlines, etc. In addition, booking channels have stimulated competition and has sparked various behaviours in customers. Sheila Raheja Institute Of Hotel Management A study on new practices adopted by Hotels in Housekeeping Department in 5-star hotels in Mumbai post Covid 19 SUCHISMITA ROY INDRA & ISHIKA KARIA Assistant Professor & Student Abstract published and paper presented in the conference organized by Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition (SIHM) Abstract A hotel is a unique place for people to interact, get together and exchange ideas. Hotel employees work side by side to provide guests with the best possible experience. The Housekeeping department is often overlooked, but their work affects all departments of the hotel. Over time, the housekeeping sector has changed significantly with new practices following the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic forced hotels to rethink standard operating procedures to maintain high hygiene standards and boost guest confidence in the hotel by maintaining social distancing, this was done especially in Housekeeping. Here are some important new processes: Leaving hotel rooms empty for hours after departure, disinfecting each room, cleaning and disinfecting high touch points, washing and disposing of waste, and cleaning or avoiding occupied rooms infrequently. India ' s hospitality industry faces difficult challenges in recovering from a pandemic. Guest trust is essential, as the risk of transmission remains even if the virus surge is over and the hotel can be safely reopened. With this in mind, this paper should be of interest to hoteliers and policy makers working to implement the best housekeeping practices since COVID-19. This paper aims to examine new housekeeping procedures introduced in response to the pandemic by Hotels in Mumbai. Key words- Mumbai, Post-Covid, Housekeeping Department, new practices, Hotels

A Study On The Impact Of Staff Training And Development On Guest Satisfaction In The 5 Star Hotels Of Mumbai MR. AJAYKUMAR MESHRAM & SIYA MODI Assistant Professor & Student Paper published in the PEER Reviewed Book Contemporary Issues in MultiDisciplinary subjects Volume 2 The Hospitality industry is a highly competitive and customer focused profession where service can only be turned into profit when the guest is satisfied. To this end, hospitality professionals, especially hoteliers are seen investing large sums of money into employee training & development and performance enhancing practices. One of the important variables that will give competitive advantage to an organization will be its human resources and how human resources is organized. A brand’s value and quality of service provided is measured by the guests’ satisfaction. In the Hospitality industry, especially in 5 Star Hotels, the entire workforce undergoes rigorous training and development to maintain the standards of the establishment. Many researchers believe that training and development in organizations boosts productivity and increases employee retention, but whether or not it has a direct impact on guest satisfaction in hotels is still to be ascertained. For the said purpose, this research has been conducted and the primary data collected for the study has been analysed to determine its effectiveness on customer satisfaction. The research undertaken is based on both, quantitative and qualitative data and is analytical in nature. The main method of data collection used in this study was a questionnaire answered by 50 respondents. The questionnaire revealed some crucial information about the opinions of hotel guests including their familiarity with the Human Resources department and their preferences pertaining staff interaction. This research helps in establishing the correlation between the two variables (staff training and development and guest satisfaction) as negative or positive and acts as a platform to gain deeper insights into guest preferences in 5-star hotels. This study will help 5-star hotels to critically plan their investments in training and development. Due to financial and time constraints, the study fails to represent a large-scale sample. However, this study presents the different ways in which hotel employees are trained and prepared for guest interaction as well as the effectiveness of these practices in enhancing guest experience. KEYWORDS: Staff Training, Human Resources, Employee Development, Hospitality, 5 Star Hotels, Mumbai, Guest Satisfaction, Customer Satisfaction. Sheila Raheja Institute Of Hotel Management

Alumni&Testimonials It is my pleasureto provide my honest testimonial of my time at Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management as an alumna. A solid foundation for my futuretriumphs was laid during my time at SRIHM, and that experience was nothing short of transformative and sculpting me in the manner that it shaped the person I am today. Let’s dial back in time, to the final round of my admissions interview with Principal Sir Conrad, Iclearly recall him asking me, Why hospitality and what's the end goal post graduation, where do you aspire to be?" "Hospitality as a sector gives methe opportunity to seethat sparkle in my customers eyes and thejoy of service that I am able to create selflessly for someoneelse. My end goal is obviously to graduatesuccessfully and secure a position as Management Training with the pioneers in the field i.e., IHCLTAJ and from thereto achieve greater heights," I replied. Thisexact moment is when thejourney of hospitality began for me. Similar to the games of snakes and ladder, earning a B.Sc. in Hospitality Management at SRIHM took three years of hard work. Along the way, there were notable successes as well as disappointments, it had its highs and lows.

Sheila Raheja Institute Of Hotel Management I won't lie or be afraid to admit that during my first three months here, I felt completely lost and like a headless chicken. However, after the results of the first semester were announced and I learned that I had received the highest rank, I realised that I belonged in this course. I am a competitive person, but I only compete with myself because I know that over time, I will become the strongest and best version of myself. I never claimed to be better than anyone else and I never wanted to be; instead, I just focused on being the best version of myself, and college allowed me to do just that. As the curriculum ran its course, I achieved several accolades, feats and awards, 2019 - First place in Book Review Competition, First placein First Among Equals College Contest- D3, Food and Beverage Department and Cleaning Creature, Housekeeping Department. Member of the Editorial Team at Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management since. 2021 – First Runner Up at National Level Front Office Competition held by DY Patil, Published and Presented Research and ’ Paper in the 5th International Conference I- Host, “New Normal in Hospitality & Tourism: Skills, Innovations and Technology’.
