Recently, when we took Liam to have his first photos taken with Santa,
this kid could not have been more thrilled. He was so amazed by the big man’s
beard, glasses and overall presence. I had to laugh at the look on his face when
Santa entered the room. Even for a baby, there was an obvious shift in the
room’s energy as he caught a glimpse of Santa – the “magic” of Christmas, for
the first time in his short little life, became real. He was absolutely captivated
by Santa. There is something about this time of year that awakens in all of
us that same child-like wonder, enthusiasm and sentiment around tradition.
Suddenly, life becomes about celebration and being with loved ones – the belief
in something bigger than ourselves. How amazing it is, this time every year,
to be blessed with the chance to live in the moment and celebrate everything
Christmas means to us.
Over the coming Christmases, I cannot wait to pass on my family’s
traditions from one generation to the next. From scanning the night sky for
Santa and watching “Home Alone” after Christmas Eve dinner at my Memaw’s,
to the candlelight service at church, wrapping presents last minute and waking
up with the sun to open them, there are so many memories to be made. And,
to me, that is what Christmas is all about.
The other day, I found myself mindlessly scrolling through Facebook. I
looked at some of my friends’ pages and then scrolled back through my own.
After reflecting on some of the memories that were not necessarily top-of-
mind from earlier this year, I was suddenly overcome with emotion – gratitude
and appreciation for the blessings in my life. Sometimes, in our day-to-day
rush and routine, we misplace memories that make it all worth it. I think this
time of year is meant for these kinds of reflections. We have the time and
opportunity to genuinely remind our loved ones what they mean to us.
While I hope 2019 has been a fantastic year for your family, I hope 2020 is
even better! Let’s toast to a year filled with love, laughter, health, prosperity
and community. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

2019 was a whirlwind of firsts for Frisco, but the city, its leadership and residents have continually proven that it
continues to be one of the leading destinations for countless reasons. Frisco is growing, flourishing, welcoming new
residents and businesses and continuing to remain at the cutting-edge of innovative development projects all while
remaining an amazing place to live and raise a family. 2019 is coming to an end, but it leaves us with fond memories of

bourbon butter. Remove from heat once the butter has reduced and glazed the
potatoes. Place the potatoes in a casserole serving dish. Spoon two-ounce balls
of the marshmallow mixture around the sweet potatoes. Before serving, sprinkle
the marshmallows with Sugar in the Raw and toast using a torch. Serve with
