Jeff Cheney Ready. Resilient. Recovering. Those are words we used to mark
Mayor of Frisco our end of year celebration for our City of Frisco employees.
For the past three years, we’ve held an employee picnic to
celebrate the end of the fiscal year. But like most special events
scheduled during this pandemic we, too, pivoted our picnic
and turned it into a burger drive-thru, of sorts. It resembled
a parade, showcasing our city’s fleet of service vehicles. Fire
engines, squad cars, parks’ trucks towing mowers and other
public works trucks specifically described as ‘crane,’ ‘dump’
and ‘bucket’ lined Frisco Square Boulevard in front of City Hall.
In-N-Out Burger graciously donated lunch and served our em-
ployees who, despite COVID-19, remain: Ready. Resilient.
Recovering.
Reflect. When I think of these words, faces through-
out our entire community come to mind.
Ready, resilient and recovering define
our city and culture in Frisco. We’re so
grateful for business owners who
donated PPE (Personal Protective
Equipment), sanitizer and meals
to our first responders. We’ve
witnessed neighbors helping
neighbors in need, those who’ve
lost jobs or are more vulnerable to
the virus. We’ve seen selfless acts
of kindness like fulfilling a shopping
list, mowing a lawn or picking up a
restaurant tab. I’m so impressed by
our younger residents who collected
food, organized fundraisers or encour-
aged us to ‘keep smiling’. In fact, we
showcased these good works in a video
series called Spread Kindness, Not The
Virus.
I believe our brightest days are ahead.
I see determination, compassion and
courage in your faces. And that gives
me hope – and it should encourage
you, too. Frisco is better together – and
that’s because we’re Ready, Resilient
and Recovering.
