NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION – AUGUST 10, 2020

Pamela Nelson, MBEIC Second Chair, represented the MBEIC Executive
Committee at the August Virtual New Member orientation. Due to ACCESS 2020
the originally scheduled New Member orientation was pushed out by one week.

MEETINGS:

The MBEIC leadership team held a Virtual meeting on July 15 “Preparing for
Virtual Access 2020 – Challenge. Change. Champion.” The meeting started with
Betty Manetta, MBEIC Chair, and the extended leadership team updating the MBE
community about the D/FW MSDC Access. Requesting MBE’s to share their input
on what they wanted to get out of virtual ACCESS. Terri Quinton shared what the
ACCESS working committee had been working on relative to the “behind the
scene” update. The purpose was for all MBE’s to understand what was
happening. The second half of the meeting was the actual training on the use of
the virtual ACCESS platform.

All members were encouraged to participate in ACCESS, ensure they had set up
their match-makers, roundtables, and bid on the virtual CEO one on one
meetings. ACCESS 2020 was well attended and feedback from members are going
direct to D/FW MSDC staff hence no further update from MBEIC.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

August TBD – We have no meeting scheduled at this time, waiting for D/FW
MSDC to provide potential dates. However, the topic will be MBEIC Chair election
guidelines and timeline for upcoming elections.
