B. Chairs’ Opening Remarks - Reality Check 2.0
Buying Entity Jeni Rajbhandari previously advised of calendar conflicts making her unavailable.
MBE Buying Co-Chair Clifton Miller: Based on what I consider to be practical considerations
documented in Agenda Item 5 Planning, I recommend that the ISCWG’s focus from now to August
7, 2020 be on actively supporting the planning implementation and close out resource
requirements for the Virtual ACCESS 2020.
The Working Group reviewed the Recommendations of the MBE Chair set forth in the
Agenda as follows:
MBE Chair’s Rationale
The following content is intended to deliver a cogent rationale supporting my Opening
Remarks recommending ISCWG’s focus on supporting the planning and
implementation resource requirements for the Virtual ACCESS 2020.
Situation Assessment
Background
As with previous ACCESS events, the demand for volunteers to manage pre-event and
day of show requirements remain high in this virtual mode. Examples include but are
not limited to:
• Sponsorship
• Pre-event, Day of Show and Post Event social media outreach
• Technology assessment and support
• Registration (Pre Access and Day of Show
• Programming content, speakers support (ACCESS 2020 requires Chat Room
support for many Events/Sessions)
Current Reality Factors
1. Continuing disruptions in the previously “as was” operating environment for Buying
Entities and MBEs alike reduces both the opportunity and likelihood of participation in
ISCWG events.
2. Increasing competition for attention and “mind share” with traditional audiences for
ISCWG programing.
3. Critically short planning window for the first ever Virtual ACCESS.

4. Critical importance of a Virtual ACCESS 2020 that maintains/enhances the Council’s
Brand and financial performance.
Conclusion
The development and delivery of high value Programming with appeal to multiple
stakeholder populations with the region, state and nationally (impacting Registration
revenues) requires a significant resource investment within the critically short planning
window. However, “many hands make the work light”.
Consequently, I am, respectfully proposing that the:
(1) resources of the ISCWG be re-directed to the planning and implementation of
Virtual ACCESS 2020.
(2) outcomes/feedback from Virtual ACCESS 2020’s programming will provide
guidance for ISCWG’s program planning and deliverables for the balance of 32020
and 2021.
C. President Remarks
Margo Posey:
• With such a short window of time to provide valuable deliverables and the challenges
of sponsorship, I agree with deterring the efforts of the Inclusive Supply Chain Working
Group to focus on planning and executing ACCESS 2020.
• Heather, Andrew and I have been on several calls and demonstrations with Virtual
Event platform Providers and are coming closer to making a decision.
• The current dates are August 3rd -5th. However, one Virtual platform provider suggested
that we consider extending the event over a longer period of time to accommodate for
fatigue and increase likelihood of more participation. I will follow through and provide
an update once anything is decided.
• I do believe that the work of the Inclusive Supply Chain Working Group is important
and still would like to have strong deliverables for the balance of the year.
• Although we are shifting gears to Access 2020 planning, ISCWG should still move
forward with September Quarterly event. We can start planning in August.
Action Item: There was a consensus in consideration of the MBE Chair’s recommendations and
President’s Remarks. All ISCWG members present unanimously decided to take the
recommendations of the Co-Chair and direct the activities of ISCWG to the ACCESS 2020
Planning Committee.

II. Planning Phase
A. ACCESS 2020
Co-Chair Miller requested Access 2020 Planning Committee Co-Chairs to update the Inclusive
Supply Chain Working Group on the Planning Committee’s progress.
Discussion
• Heather Wright provided an overview of ACCESS Planning Committee progress thus
far and next action steps. She stated that identifying the platform and the
subcommittees members’ driving the development of the programing are the most
pressing matters. She stated that the current event dates are August 3-5, 2020,
however reiterated that they are considering extending the dates, i.e. workshops on
separate days than matchmakers to eliminate fatigue. This may impact the Save the
Date until decided upon.
• She advised the group of the reoccurring meeting 2-4 every Tuesday through July
and acknowledged that many ISCWG members were already actively involved on
the Committee and subcommittee/working groups. She further called for anyone
who was not currently participating and had a desire to participate to notify her so
that they may be added to the distribution list, emphasizing that because of the
magnitude of the planning and the short time, we need all hands on deck from
members of ISCWG in the Access Planning
• Mary Gano spoke about the project management of the Access Planning Committee and
that the Subcommittees steering the programming. She stressed the importance of the
work of the subcommittees in developing the workshops and the importance of meeting
deadlines.
• She stated that there are other considerations in the process, including Risk Mitigation
strategies, that she will be addressing as the planning process develops.
• Clifton: Are there any anticipated volunteer needs or considerations? In the regular,
in person event there are opportunities for greeters, registration, etc. However, in a
virtual platform there may be some additional requirements? Ex: Do we need
persons with the skills and abilities to handle chat feeds? Are we looking for a pool
of volunteers or is each facilitator responsible for support requirements?
• Heather: It depends on the technology platform we decide on. However, we will need
people who can support the chat functions, etc.

• Margo: I believe too much discussion is premature until we decide on platform. We
will provide required updates.
Open Floor for Questions and Comments from the Team. There were no comments.
B. September 2020 QBL
Margo: We are in a different place. ISCWG has done a lot of work and identifying a lot of subjects and
programming for the remainder of the year. From what I recall, many of the topics do not overlap with the
ACCESS programming.
Discussion
Overview of Program of work already identified by ISCWG:
1. Social Media: There was some discussion around this topic. Mary is continuing
conversations and facilitation around the Social Media topic. She and Eric will re-
engage on the topic.
2. Cyber Security: MBEIC is hosting an event on Cyber Security. It is open for attendance by all.
3. Industry 4.0: Clif has been in conversation with Buying Entity members about Industry
4.0 programming.
4. Other Topics:
Betty: What about Supply Chain? The shift in Supply chain and manufacturing, the shift that we
will see
Margo: Some of this discussion will be rolled into CEO/CPO summit, however that is a great
topic that can be expounded on.
Clif: Supply Chain is such a large area to tackle, it would be on the person(s) spearheading it to
narrow down, however that is certainly a topic that all of our stakeholders and MBEs are
interested in.
III. Closing Remarks and Action Items
Round Robin
Margo: Thank you for attending and supporting the Council and the ISCWG
Brad: I will be attending the ACCESS subcommittee meeting Manufacturing

Heather W.: We will follow up after platform is decided on
Heather R.: My phone was muted as well. At AT&T we’ve participated in or looked at various
platforms. I’d like to give some insight when the platform is decided on.
Richard: As mentioned before, we are in a different day. I’m interested to see how the Virtual
Tradeshow will be executed and offer my support.

Subject: NMSDC is Connecting MBEs with PPP Funding and Providing an Instructional Video
Date: 6/18/2020
Reminder: Must apply by June 26, 2020.
On June 1, 2020, NMSDC partnered with Business Consortium Fund (BCF) and Midwest BankCentre to
provide minority businesses access to Paycheck Protect Program (PPP) loans (see attached press
release). It’s critical that our minority businesses sustain/propel through this pandemic; access to capital
is a necessity.
The National Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. (NMSDC) continues to support our MBEs in
getting funding during the COVID-19 pandemic. G. Winston Smith, President of Business Consortium
Fund (BCF), and Ashley O’Neal of Midwest BankCentre have teamed together on this video to share the
important details of the PPP program, documents required, and how to apply for your funding by June
26, 2020. This is an urgent call to action. We do not want you to miss this opportunity. It is our goal to
assist MBEs with obtaining access to PPP loans. Watch the video or immediately begin the application
process by clicking here.
Funding is available but the deadline date is quickly approaching and MBEs in need must complete the
application now.
We’re in this together,
Adrienne Trimble

NMSDC Secures Partnership to Connect MBEs with PPP Funding
Collaboration between NMSDC Business Consortium Fund and Midwest BankCentre will Help Minority-
Owned Business Enterprises Navigate SBA Funding Application Process
(New York, NY | June 2020) - The National Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. (NMSDC) is
pleased to announce the establishment of a new partnership between their Business Consortium Fund
(BCF) and Midwest BankCentre to assist certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) with funding
access through the SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Details about how to access funding are
available online by visiting BCF’s website at www.bcfcapital.com/ppp-disclosure.
On May 28, 2020, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), in consultation with the U.S. Treasury
Department, announced that it is setting aside $10 billion of Round 2 PPP funding to be lent exclusively
by Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs). CDFIs work to expand economic opportunity
in low-income communities by providing access to financial products and services for local residents and
businesses.
NMSDC recently surveyed its certified MBEs and learned that as of two weeks ago, more than 60% of
those surveyed had not yet received their funding, leading to frustration and disillusionment about the
prospect of receiving PPP support.
“We have been thoroughly investigating a range of options for helping MBEs secure the much-needed
PPP funding,” said Adrienne Trimble, NMSDC President and CEO. “After receiving the survey results, I
knew it was time for NMSDC to take care of our own and so I began making calls.”
Among Trimble’s first calls was to David Steward, Chairman and Founder
of World Wide Technology (www.wwt.com), one of the largest African American-owned businesses in
the United States and the largest NMSDC-certified MBE. In 1987, prior to founding
World Wide Technology (WWT), David received a BCF loan which supported his business pursuits. He
was among the first certified MBEs to receive funding from NMSDC’s BCF and the first to repay
their loan. WWT was founded in 1990.
“David quickly connected us with Orvin T. Kimbrough, Chairman and CEO of Midwest
BankCentre (MBC),” Trimble continued. “Our organizations share similar passions and
philosophies about supporting minority business, which makes it especially exciting to launch this
partnership between NMSDC’s Business Consortium Fund and the Midwest BankCentre.”
“MBC has a strong commitment to reinvesting in our communities and ensuring we all have the tools to
have the best shot at winning,” according to Kimbrough. “This collaboration is even more important
given the current economic challenges impacting small business, and to a greater degree, minority-
owned businesses.”
“The NMSDC Business Consortium Fund is perfectly positioned to support MBEs in successfully
accessing PPP funding. Our staff is trained and ready to work with MBEs on their specific needs when it
comes to accessing this critical funding,” noted G. Winston Smith, BCF President and COO. “We have
created an efficient application process, and we are eager to work with Midwest BankCentre to break
down barriers and facilitate MBE access to the PPP funds.”
How to Receive Assistance | If you are a minority business still in need of PPP funding,
please visit www.bcfcapital.com/ppp-disclosure to begin your application process. The SBA has
confirmed there is more than $90B remaining in available funding.
