Dallas Fort Worth Coronavirus Response & Relief Award Board Report – October 2021

During the month of October 2021, the DFW Coronavirus Response & Relief Award was able to support
minority-owned business success in North Texas through the development of the Traction Program that
will work to connect small North Texas minority-owned businesses with the resources they need. This
includes: business development, marketing assistance to increase their customer base, pricing, grants
and loans, and pre-procurement preparation. We were also able to welcome our newest member,
Constantine Nsizoa, Business Advocate, who will assist certified and non-certified MBEs in the
development and growth of their businesses, as we move through the lasting effects of the COVID-19
pandemic.

As well, we worked to increase engagement within and outside of the Council by sharing relevant events
and announcements through traditional email, Council-side social media accounts, as well as Eventbrite,
Dallas Builds, and our strategic partnerships. Finally, we developed what is now the DFW MSDC Holiday
Marketplace designed to give Council-certified MBEs the opportunity to submit a holiday ad featuring
their products and services, along with a special limited-time offer of their choosing and design. With
the advent of the upcoming Black Friday weekend, that includes Small Business Saturday and Cyber
Monday, the Holiday Marketplace can increase the visibility of their brands as we go into the new year,
potentially increase their B2C customer reach, and positively impact their bottom line.
