MBEIC_Report_Mar-2023 April 2023 April 4, 2023- New Supplier Orientation (NSO) – Pam Nelson attended the meeting. Ms. Nelson welcomed the new suppliers and provided an overview of MBEIC. April 12, 2023- MBE Support to Austin, Texas. MBEs journeyed with council staff and regional advocacy groups to meet with legislators of the Texas House. The MBEIC, council staff, and Public Policy committee continue to educate MBEs on bills and policies that may directly affect MBEs, such as HB5140. April 20, 2023- MBEIC Committee Meeting- MBEIC leadership met to discuss upcoming events and continuing efforts to engage MBEs to access opportunities. A survey will be released in May to obtain information from MBEs regarding marketing needs. The results will be used to plan a marketing program with Jenica Oliver as lead. April 26, 2023- MBE to MBE Mixer was held at the Comerica Business HQ in Dallas. The mixer was to engage and encourage MBE-to-MBE connections. Attendance: • People registered: 121 • People in attendance: 33 • Certified MBEs: 23 • Non-certified MBEs 9 • Buying entities 1 NMSDC Redesign and Certification Committee – The MBEIC Chair has participated with the Extended Team in redesigning the NMSDC certification process and the Activation Team. Betty Manetta is the MBEIC representative for the Activation Team, and Pam Nelson is the representative for the Extended Team for certification. The committees meet regularly to present recommendations for a path to the national MSDC due May 2023.
MBEIC_Report_Mar-2023 MBE to MBE Marketplace for 1% Plus Initiative- This initiative is intended to provide a mechanism for MBEs to market to each other to obtain goods and services within the network. The kickoff for the project was announced during the MBE to MBE Mixer and the process and ongoing success will be tracked by the council staff. BOARD REPORT ONE % PLUS | BOARD REQUEST Thank you to our 1% PLUS Champion CEO’s on their support and letter campaign. Letter to our CEO’s will be sent Tuesday, May 30th. Letter to Board member’s companies were delivered on Tuesday, May 16th . Our ask is all Board member companies sign the pledge. WEDNESDAY, MAY 24 PRESIDENT REPORT Building on a 50 Year Legacy of Inclusion, Resilience & Growth CPO RECEPTION The DFW MSDC will host a CPO Reception on June 29th at Ericcson headquarter, special thanks to Ericcson for providing the venue. Rachel Kutz is charging this initiative. Invitations have been sent to DFW MSDC Buying Entity members companies CPO's and other areas. Our Buying Entity board members have met and are encourage to provide additional invitees. Digital invitation will be sent Tuesday, May 30th The purpose of the reception is to introduce DFW MSDC Board Members to the DFW-CPO Community and all CPO's to DFW MSDC. We will plan on a CPO submission to follow the initial reception by the end of the year.
