1. Manual Cleaning i. Clean all channels and the outside of the endoscope ii. Manually flushed with enzymatic detergent iii. Brushing is recommended for all channels to remove all debris from channel and outside of endoscope iv. Attached injection tube connector and aspirated water for ten second through all channel CLEANING AND DISINFECTING THE ENDOSCOPE
2. Disinfecting the Scope i. Activate disinfectant required ii. Flush the internal lumen of the endoscope with high level disinfectant solution iii. Totally immersed entire scope inside high level disinfectant for 10 minutes (follow the manufacturer instruction) iv. Rinse and flush all channels of endoscope and accessories with the filtered /clean water CLEANING AND DISINFECTING THE ENDOSCOPE
2. Disinfecting the Scope v. Wipe dry exterior of scope and use injection tube to pump out residual water from the channels vi. Flush channels of the scope with 70% isopropyl alcohol. vii. Hang Endoscope vertically inside the ultraviolet cabinet with valves off to ensure drainage. CLEANING AND DISINFECTING THE ENDOSCOPE
3. Auto washer and Disinfector i. Prepare filtered water and high level disinfectant in the second compartment of auto washer ii. Place the endoscope inside the and attach the irrigator tubings to the air and suction ports in first compartment. Process of washing, disinfect and rinsing take about 1 hour. iii. Remove the endoscope and dry the endoscope with clean lint free towel CLEANING AND DISINFECTING THE ENDOSCOPE
3. Auto washer and Disinfector iv. Perform leak test by connecting the endoscope to the leak tester to check for any leakage v. Finally do alcohol flushing through the endoscope lumen. vi. Check for any broken lens, functionality before reuse or for storage. vii. Hang endoscopes vertically inside the ultraviolet cabinet to keep dry when not in use or for storage CLEANING AND DISINFECTING THE ENDOSCOPE
1. Preparation of Equipment Ensure that the following equipment are available and in functioning order 2. List of Equipment • TV Monitor and Camera System • Gas Carbon dioxide gas and gas tubing • Camera head • Light cable • Light source HANDLING OF LAPAROSCOPIC INSTRUMENT AND EQUIPMENTS
3. Before Process • Prepare clean and dry reusable soaking container with tightly fitting lid • Prepare appropriate sterile container for rinsing of sterile instruments HANDLING OF LAPAROSCOPIC INSTRUMENT AND EQUIPMENTS
4. Preparation of Disinfection • Wear PPE • Check expiry date of solution • Activate solution according to manufacturer recommendation • Label date and time of activation and expiry • Close lid of container HANDLING OF LAPAROSCOPIC INSTRUMENT AND EQUIPMENTS
1. Check instruments dry and clean 2. Open all ratchet of laparoscopic forceps such as grasping, Maryland dissecting, curved scissor 3. Dismantle all detachable parts of instruments 4. After Process 1. Scrubbed personnel gowned and gloved 2. Remove telescope and accessories from soaking container 3. Rinse telescope and Laparoscopic accessories thoroughly with sterile water 4. Dry telescope and laparoscopic accessories, then assemble the detached parts layout the instruments on a sterile trolley ready to be use. After Procedure, Decontamination is Carried Out 1. Wipe from the proximal and distal end with lint free cloth to remove all blood, mucous and debris along rigid telescope, sheath/ trocar and its accessories 2. After Procedure, Decontamination is Carried Out 4. Rinse with clean water and wipe dry thoroughly with clean towel 5. Repeat step 3 and 4 6. Check for any broken lens, functionality before reuse or for storage. 7. Stored in a box when not in use. 8. Tidy and keep all the equipments at the designated place.
