What Are the Most Important Things In Your Life?
Ding! The end of lunch bell rang loudly and it was time for my favorite class, PAL. I
walked into the classroom and signed in for attendance. PAL is not a class where a teacher taught
lessons in front of the whiteboard. Instead, we came up with projects that would be beneficial to
others and the projects we can work on were limitless. My best PAL buds, McKenzie, Tristan,
Presley, Dani, Lizzy, usually worked altogether on projects. We were able to come up with the
best project ideas and most of them were very successful. We were currently working on a project
to raise money for the Australian Koala Foundation. It was a company that took donations to
save the koalas that are about to be endangered. Our idea was to raise money by selling nachos
during lunch. All we had left to do was to make posters to hang them around our campus. After
we gathered all of the materials, we lay down on the floor to make our posters. Making them
wasn’t that hard, but it was going to take the whole class time. We listened to music and chatted
and giggled about different things while making the posters. It wasn’t that exciting to make
posters, however, the sound of the music, my friends’ voices, smell of fruit scented markers, and
most importantly, my friends’ presences brought bliss to my life.
Peer Assistance Leadership is a leadership class that helps the school and the community
with various things. This class relies heavily on projects which are completed in groups. I love
PAL especially because it gave me an opportunity to get to know and become closer to the
students and the faculty on campus. The projects that my friends and I have worked on
previously were all effective. For example, we have raised 700 animal products for the Irvine
Animal Shelter. It was a project that required massive amount of teamwork. The project
wouldn’t have been effective and most importantly, I wouldn’t have been motivated to work for
it without my friends. In life, I know that I will meet different types of people whether they will
have a positive or negative impact on me. The people I met through PAL are friends that I have
shared my interests with for years.
“What are the most important things in your life?” I have gotten that question often times.
There are many things that I need as a human in my life. One thing that I think I definitely need
are friends. My days wouldn’t have been the same without them because they are a big part of
my life. Through many ups and downs in my life, they have understood and comforted me which
I really appreciate. When I am going through a rough time, they would cheer me up and do their
best to make me feel happier and when I’m in a good mood, they would make me feel so joyful.
I believe that people need each other for both mentally and physically. Friendship is an
incredible relationship that may last forever and it shouldn’t be given up for anything.
