IN FOCUS

AND THE ROCKET’S
RED GLARE

Our Fourth of July Pool
Party was loaded with

patriotic fun as kids
played, parents relaxed,

upbeat music created
a fun atmosphere, and
the nostalgic smells of
barbecue favorites filled
the air. Kids jumped in the
bouncy house, lined up
to ride the inflatable bull,
and loaded up on snow
cones and cotton candy.
Even the adults joined
the fun with the much-
anticipated beer dive! Our
own Danielle LaFerriere
sang the National Anthem

beautifully, and the
fireworks completed the

festive event.

Fireworks light up the sky
over Valley's Clubhouse.

ANCHORS AWEIGH!
Families gathered around

the pool to test their
nautical skills. With only
cardboard, scissors, and
duct tape, grandparents,
parents, and kids worked

together to make the
perfect ship worthy of the

Valley waters. The kids
then boarded their vessels

and sailed the high seas.
Whether their ship stayed

afloat or sank into the
waters below, everyone

had a wonderful time
spending the afternoon

with their friends
and families.

Mike Mathies, his
daughter, Leigh Smith, and

grandson, Ben Smith, test
their ship in the pool for
Family Boat Building.

10 VALLEY VOICE AUGUST 2019

Nancy Ziereis and her
guest, Beverly Hoffenberg,
were the champions of the
2019 WGA Invitational.

A FIRST TIME FOR
EVERYTHING
For the first time, Valley’s
WGA hosted their
inaugural invitational
event, The Valley Tradition.
Similar to the men’s
Birdie Bash, this special
tournament for WGA
Members and their guests
was the first among many
to come in the years ahead
for the ladies. The two-
day event featured three
nine-hole tournaments,
a horserace, a putting
contest, plenty of delicious
food and drinks, and
fantastic tee and raffle
prizes. The ladies had such
a fun time playing with old
friends and meeting new
people, and the themed
luncheon was nothing
short of elegant.

The WGA ladies and their
guests head to their first
hole in the first-ever WGA
Invitational.
