Monk Tradition – Way of the Silver Mind Monks of the Way of the Silver Mind are those that have learned to not only traverse the Astral Plane, but harness some of the Silver Void’s power. They are able to manifest the silver cord that would tie them to their physical form in the Astral Plane when on other planes of existence. Nearly a century ago a large monastery, the House of Humble Thought, was drawn into the Astral Plane through a mishap of magic and the whim of a Power. At first the monks of the order sought a way to return to the Prime Material. However, as they began to understand the nature of their new home they decided to remain, meditating and training on the Astral Plane. As the mind, not the body, powers existence within this realm the monks founded a tradition that focused and refined pure thought, taking some of that essence with them whichever plane they visited. Way of the Silver Mind Features Monk Level Feature 3rd Humble Thought, Silver Cord 6th Astral Force 11th Silver Mind 17th Conduit to the Void Humble Thought Staring when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to centre your mind when on the Astral Plane. Where a condition of the plane requires you to use Intelligence score or bonus (eg. for movement) you may instead use your Wisdom score or bonus (as relevant). Silver Cord Also at 3rd level, you may use a bonus action to manifest a 3 feet long silver, rope-like, cord from the palm of your hand. This cord counts as a bludgeoning Monk Weapon using your Martial Arts die for damage. Whenever you hit a creature with the cord you may spend 1 ki point to impose one of the following effects: • The weapon counts as magical • The weapon inflicts psychic damage The cord remains in existence for a number of rounds equal to half your Monk level (rounded up) + your Wisdom modifier, or until you fall unconscious. A Dispel Magic spell cast against the Monk treats this as a 4th level spell for spellcasting ability DC purposes. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (a minimum of once). You regain any expended uses when you finish a long rest. Astral Force At 6th level you learn to use extend the power of the Astral Plane down your Silver Cord, providing you the following benefits: Astral Thunder. While your Silver Cord is manifest you may spend 2 ki points to cast thunderwave. At the start of your turn you may spend 2 ki points to extend your Silver Cord up to 30 feet. This lasts until the end of your turn. You may use this as a standard rope, or to make a ranged attack (also considered a melee attack for your Monk abilities). Silver Mind At 11th level you gain the following benefits: Brilliant Cord. You may spend 2 ki points to manifest your Silver Cord an additional time per long rest. Mind over Matter. While your Silver Cord is manifest you are considered under the effect of a freedom of movement spell and not affected by the reverse gravity spell. You may spend 4 ki points to cast the fly spell, targeting yourself. Silver Shield. You are resistant to force, psychic and thunder damage. Conduit to the Void At 17th level, you become completely in tune with the Silver Cord. It becomes an active link for you to and from the Astral Plane. As an action you can summon a conduit along your silver cord and spend 10 ki points to cast plane shift, to travel to or from the Astral Plane.
