Orc (Half-Orc) Half-orcs do not exist in Aenea. However, orcs are a race that can be used for Player Characters, and they share traits with standard half-orcs. Aenean orcs are just as smart as humans, but tend to live shorter, more brutal lives. Theirs is a warrior-based society... kind of like Klingons, but without all that "honor" stuff. They control a vast empire built on the remains of conquered human kingdoms, keeping humans and others as slaves. The following are subraces of orcs available in Aenea to use as player characters. The standard base race description for orcs (half-orcs) begins on page 40 of the Player's Handbook, but for the purpose of granting more options, the standard orc (half-orc) race has been modified into a base race and various subraces. Any background information that might be included here was created to fit into the World of Aenea. You are encouraged to adapt these to fit into your own campaign worlds. If your game uses half-orcs, just add "half-" before most mentions of "orc" in this document. Orc Traits Your orcish heritage manifests in a variety of traits you share with other orcs. Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2. Age. Orcs mature a little faster than humans, reaching adulthood around age 14. They age noticeably faster and rarely live longer than 75 years. Alignment. Orcish society tends toward chaos and evil. Orcs follow the stongest leaders and constantly fight amongst themselves for status, while at the same time staying loyal to their tribes out of both tradition and self-interest. They are brutal warriors and slavers that lord over those weaker than themselves. Size. Orcs are somewhat larger and bulkier than humans, and they range from 5 to well over 6 feet tall. Your size is Medium. Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Aggressive. As a bonus action, you can move up to your speed toward a hostile creature that you can see. Darkvision. Thanks to your orc blood, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. Languages. You can speak, Common and Orc. Orc is a harsh, grating language with hard consonants. It has no script of its own but is written in the Dwarvish script. Bestial Orc With a minotaur or other such powerful creature somewhere in their parents' bloodline, bestial orcs are incredibly strong and durable. Mighter than most orcs, they are very quick to anger and take pleasure in close combat. Impulsive and stubborn, and having inherited very little of the intelligence of other orcs, bestial orcs are slow learners that often charge into situations before taking any time to think. Bestial orcs are larger and heavily muscled compared to normal orcs. Instead of the normal grey skin of their kin, bestial orcs are brown-skinned with thicker body hair. Their hair is usually varying shades of brown, sometimes displaying subtle spots or stripes. Their features are usually more animalistic, with sharper teeth, larger ears, and an overall more predatory look. Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1. Bestial Toughness. Your hit point maximum increases by 1, and it increases by 1 every time you gain a level. Battle Rage. You can enter a rage identical to that of a barbarian (see Player's Handbook, page 48). You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest. If you are a barbarian with the Rage feature, this feature instead adds 1 to the number of times you can use your class' ability to rage. Languages. You can speak, Common and Orc. You've never had a desire to learn to read or write. This replaces the normal orc languages trait. Demonspawn Orc The offspring of mortal orcs and demons (native to the Dark Realm), demonspawn are found scattered all across the lands. Many are tainted by the evil nature of their demonic parent, while a few rebel against the evil and live lives of peace. Naturally chaotic, demonspawn sometimes wake to find they've grown or lost demonic features. Demonspawn are rarely accepted into normal societies, as their demonic parentage is unusually obvious. Demonspawn orcs are hairless, with skin in shades of red. Their facial features are less orcish, with teeth that are not as prominent, noses more humanlike, and their eyes show more alertness and intelligence. Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 1. Age. Demonspawn orcs mature a little faster than humans, reaching adulthood around age 15. They sometimes live longer than 100 years. Blood of Demons. You have resistance to fire damage. Menacing. You gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill. Chaotic Features. Each time you wake from sleep or finish a long rest, roll a d20. You open your eyes to discover you may have gained or lost one or more physical features. These changes remain until you finish another long rest. They venerate the strength of the trees, the vitality of the streams, and the adaptability of the many animals around them. Forest orcs have green skin, with hair that is usually black or brown. They often tattoo leaf patterns onto their skin, both to blend into the forest better and to show admiration for their favorite trees. Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 1. Snow Orc Far to the north is the Icereach, a land mostly covered in a permanent layer of ice and snow, where only the southermost coastline gets enough light and heat to grow the most hearty of small plants for a few weeks each summer. Living for centuries in this harsh environment are a race of orcs that welcome the cold and are known to wield weapons made from ice. Snow orcs are albinos with white skin and heavy white body hair. Their other hair is also white, making their red orcish eyes stand out even more than normal. Unless attempting to conceal their appearance, snow orcs will usually wear white clothing and armor to better blend into their surroundings. Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1. Creature of Winter. You have resistance to cold damage. Relentless Endurance.
