Voidling V1 pace. Seen by many as an empty void filled with stars, planets and strange creatures. But the space itself can live too, droplets of it slipping from the heavens and forming new life. The Voidlings. Beings crafted from an unknown hand and falling from the sky itself, they are truly strange creatures to come upon. With a vaguely humanoid-shaped body darker than midnight, they have small star-like orbs of light that dance along them, making up their eyes. The colour and movement of the stars can shift to the Voidlings whim, often taking the form of intricate constellations as tattoos. They have no mouth, or any orifices at all, but they can speak, hear and smell just fine. They have no need for air, food or water, and often are quite confused by the concepts. Voidlings claim they can survive in a perfect vacuum, space being one itself, but few ever get to prove this ability. Their bodies appears almost fluid-like and hard to distinguish between each other, having no physical gender, and are unable to reproduce. Voidlings often come to their own decisions regarding self identification, choosing a gender or name they identify with inside. They vanish in darkness, the shadows being their home, even melding into it to hide themselves. Many expect the frightening appearance of the Voidlings makes them wicked and vile, when in reality they are usually quite neutral. Untold millennia hanging in the empty sky has given them quite the perspective, often having knowledge from hundreds, thousands, or even millions of years ago that was thought to be lost. The stars have eyes, after all. Their ageless nature often makes them overlook the immediate consequences, looking further ahead than most races would even live to see. Voidling Traits Ability Score Increase Your Intelligence increases by 2, and your Wisdom increases by 1. Stellar Ancestry Your creation from the void and stars permanently binds you to them, marking you as a higher being. Your creature type is Celestial and Humanoid. Ageless Voidlings appear in the world fully mature, and do not naturally age. Voidlings live until they are either killed or choose to die, ending their lives and returning to the aether from whence they were born. You do not age, and you are immune to magical aging effects. Size Voidlings are squishy and soft in way of physical features, having no real definition to their shape, but most stand between 4 and 5 feet tall. Your size is medium. Speed Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Unusual Nature Voidlings have no orifices, despite being able to see, hear and smell. When Voidlings sleep, the stars across their body dance and shape to fit the dream, often the memories of their years hanging in the night sky. You have no need to eat, drink or breathe. Astral Vision Voidlings eyes are formed from bright stars, their light piercing through enchanted darkness with ease. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness or magical darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. Innate Spellcasting You know the Light cantrip. You can also cast Dancing Lights, but you can have up to 8 lights instead of 4. This can be seen as the stars from your body lifting off of you into the air. Starting at 3rd level, you can also cast Darkness with this trait. Once you cast it, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for these spells. Shadow Walk Voidlings are comprised of void and shadow, allowing them to slip into it. When in dim light or darkness, you can hide as a bonus action. When in complete darkness, you meld into the shadows, gaining the benefits of half cover. You gain a +2 bonus to your AC and Dexterity saving throws. In addition, when in complete darkness you gain the ability to move up, down, and across vertical surfaces and upside down along ceilings, while leaving your hands free, as long as where you are moving to is completely dark. Exquisite Linguist Voidlings have a natural affinity for learning and picking up languages, and have a memory lasting millennia. When learning a new language, the time it takes is halved. You can also add your proficiency bonus on any check involving deciphering or understanding a language you do not know. You can speak, read and write Celestial and Common.
