A Helping Hand While Awakened Canine are limited to holding things in their mouths, they are able to manifest a spectral, floating hand that inhabits the same space as the creature at will. This hand can assist the Awakened Canine with simple tasks that would normally be impossible for their non-magical counterparts, such as using items, opening doors, writing in spellbooks, completing Somatic requirements for spells and donning armor, backpacks or other equipment. Before completing a simple task for the first time, the Awakened Canine must make an Intelligence check (Investigation) to try and understand how to complete the task. While the Helping Hand is manifested, the Awakened Canine can still hold an object in it's mouth. Worse than my Bark Because of an Awakened Canines powerful bite, your teeth are natural weapons. If you hit with them, your bite deals piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier. This increases to 1d6 + your Strength modifier at level 5 and 1d8 + your Strength modifier at level 10. Take and Down Immediately after you use the Dash action on your turn and move at least 20 feet, you can then pounce on a creature in an attempt to grab and force them to the ground. You must make a Strength (Athletics) check contested by the targets Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check (the target chooses). If you succeed, the target is Grappled and Knocked Prone. The DC for this check is equal to 12 + your Strength modifier. While you are Grappling a creature, you can make a bite attack as a bonus action. Your Best Friend Thanks to their natural charm and newfound magical ability, Awakened Canines can cast Charm Person once per long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell. Simple Commands Due to flow of magic within an Awakened Canine, they have gained the ability to verbally communicate with and understand others species, allowing them to express simple thoughts and ideas as well as being able to better understand and learn from creatures that can speak the same language.
