Welcome to Brochure No 2 . Thank you for taking the time to read our
second brochure for 2018. We are a small friendly company those main aim is to pro-
vide enjoyable day trips and short break holidays at affordable prices.
You may not know this, but the law is changing and this means that we will no longer
be able to contact you unless we have your consent to do so - we need your permission
to keep sending our brochure out to you. If you would like to receive the next brochure
you will need to complete a Brochure request form and return it to us.
Please note: Our trips can only go ahead if a minimum of 20 passengers is reached, so
book in early and don’t forget to tell all of your friends about us.

Thursday 12th April FAVERSHAM & QUEX PARK
Today we spent the morning in the charming town of Faversham. Soak in the atmosphere of a
picturesque market town with nearly 500 listed buildings. We continue to Birchington for an
afternoon exploring the gardens of Quex Park and Powell-Cotton Museum. Take time in Quex
House, the historic Country home of the adventurous Powell-Cotton family for over 200 years.
This comes with a delicious cream tea.

Tuesday 17th April HIDDEN LONDON & REGENTS CANAL
Our guide will meet us at London Wall in time to purchase morning coffee at the Museum of
London. Heading from Aldersgate to the Newgate via a maze of narrow streets and bygone alley-
ways surrounding the old smooth field, now known as Smithfield. Londoner’s came here to watch
grisly public executions and visit London’s first hospital and the Meat Market. Our lunch will be a
one course meal with tea/coffee at the Butcher Hook and Clever pub. After lunch we take a 50
minute narrow boat cruise which begins in opulent Little Venice and takes us through London Zoo
and the aviary designed by Lord Snowdon. We pass a floating Chinese pagoda & colourful house-
boats and glide silently through a narrow tunnel. We step ashore in the cobbled and flagged yard
of Camden Lock where you can buy refreshments before we head home at 4.45p.m.

Tuesday 24th April PEVENSEY BAY LUNCH & SCENIC RIDE
Today we take a leisurely drive through Kent to the Smugglers Inn at Pevensey, East Sussex,
where we arrive in time for lunch. The Smugglers is a 17th Century old coaching inn, with Oak
Beamed Bar and separate Restaurant. Our lunch will comprise of two courses plus tea or coffee.
All food is homemade on the premises. After lunch there will be time to walk to Pevensey Castle
before we continue to Alfriston which is set in the Cuckmere Valley. Alfriston is a pretty village
with many fine buildings including the Clergy House, the first property acquired by the National
Trust.

Thursday 26th April ST GEORGE’S DAY - BRICK LANE MUSIC HALL
Join us for this special patriotic show to celebrate everything English with comedy and song at the
fabulous Brick Lane Music Hall, which is a traditional Victorian style music hall based in the Royal
Docks area of Silvertown East London. This is for the Lunchtime performance and would include a
three course meal.

All seats must be pre-booked. We do not pre-book any seat numbers, but will
endeavour to meet special requests.
To make a booking you can either telephone or call into our office. Bookings can also
be made at the Maldon Information Centre.
A £10.00 non refundable deposit will secure your seat with the balance being paid 28
days before the travel date. For Theatre trips the full amount is required at the time of
booking. We accept cash, cheque or card payments. All cheques should be made pay-
able to Phillips Coaches Limited. Please note there is a 2% charge when paying by
credit card.
Please make sure you arrive at the pick-up point five minutes before time, as we are
unable to wait. We cannot be held responsible for any late arrivals due to circumstanc-
es beyond our control. Please ensure you are back at the coach at the time stated by
the driver.
Occasionally it may be necessary to hire in coaches from other companies.
In the event of a Customer cancelling an excursion, we will endeavour to re-sell the
seat. We will keep a small administration fee to cover our costs. No refund can be
given for short notice cancellation (seven days or less).
Smoking is not permitted on our vehicles at any time.

protection. We are therefore pleased to announce that, at no extra cost to you, and in accordance
with “The Package Travel, Package Tours Regulations 1992” all passengers booking with Phillips
Coaches Limited are fully insured for the initial deposit, and subsequently the balance of monies
paid as detailed in your booking confirmation form. The policy will also include repatriation if
required, arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to insolvency

THURSFORD CHRISTMAS OVERNIGHT SPECIAL
Sunday 16th December, 2018
Thursford Christmas Spectacular is the largest Christmas Show in the Country!
Set in magical surroundings of mechanical organs and fairground carousels, with a cast of
130 professional singers, dancers and musicians, many of whom are West End performers.
The 3 hour performance delivers an extravaganza of non stop singing, dancing, music,
humour and variety.
It’s a fast moving celebration of the festive season featuring an electric mix of both seasonal
and year-round favourites, with famous and much-loved chart toppers being sung alongside
traditional carols.
We will again be staying at the Knights Hill Hotel in Kings Lynn, Norfolk.
Sunday - We will leave local areas at approximately 9.30 am with a coffee stop on route to
our hotel in Kings Lynn. There will be time to visit our rooms before our delicious three
course meal is served in the restaurant. There will then be time to relax and freshen up
before we leave the hotel to travel to Thursford for the evening performance which starts at
7.00 pm.
Monday - After a hearty breakfast we leave the hotel and travel to Bury St Edmunds where
you will have time for lunch and a little shopping or sight-
seeing before we finish our journey home. We should arrive
home by 4.00 pm.

Wednesday 9th May OAKHAM & RUTLAND BELLE CRUISE
Today our morning is spent in the market town of Oakham which is located in England’s smallest
county, Rutland. It has fine stone buildings and lots of heritage. There will be time for lunch
before we continue to Rutland water for a cruise on the Rutland Belle. Rutland Water is set in
three-thousand acres of beautiful English countryside and was created in the 1970’s by Anglian
Water. Whilst on board we will enjoy a delicious cream tea.

Tuesday 15th May CHIDDINGSTONE CASTLE, LUNCH & KNOLE PARK
Join us today at two attractions for a splendid day out in the Kent Countryside. Our day starts at
Chiddingstone Castle with a guided tour of the house, which has Tudor origins and Victorian
rooms. There are Egyptian, Japanese Stuart and Buddist artefacts and you can discover a story
of unrequited love and attempted murder. There will then be time for a ploughman’s lunch be-
fore we head to Knole Park for an afternoon to discover 600 years of history at the famous Na-
tional Trust property with its World Class paintings and furniture.

Tucked away in the tranquil Lyth Valley, the Damson Dene Hotel is the best place for a
relaxing break. With friendly staff, great spa facilities and fantastic food. But if you do want to
get out and explore the hotel is not far from the bustle of Bowness and Lake Windemere. The
hotel takes its name from the famous damson orchards of the area.

We take a leisurely drive through the Kent countryside, with a stop for morning tea/coffee.
Continuing to Dungeness where we stop for a fish n chip lunch at the Pilot Inn. After lunch we
travel the short distance to Dungeness Rail station, where we enjoy our journey on the smallest
public railway, from Dungeness to New Romney. At New Romney there is time to explore the
station which has a small museum, shop and tea rooms. We then re-board the coach to return
home via Dymchurch & Hythe.

Tuesday 12th June WORTHING
Nestled beneath the Sussex Downs is the charming resort of Worthing, perfect for a day by the
sea. The ten mile stretch of beach is the main attraction of the day. There is plenty to see and

Thursday 14th June THE MID NORFOLK RAILWAY & GRESSENHALL FARM
Today we head off for a single trip by heritage diesel train, with full commentary, through elev-
en miles of glorious Mid-Norfolk countryside from Wymondham Abbey to Dereham on the
Mid-Norfolk Railway, East Anglia’s longest heritage line. We will then have a light lunch at the
station before heading off to Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse Museum which is just three
miles from Dereham Station and is a truly unique museum. At Gressenhall we visit the historic
workhouse building featuring new exhibition galleries exploring “Voices from the Workhouse”,
the museum of life on the land, the traditional farm with rare breed animals and beautiful, un-
spoilt grounds.

Sunday 25th November CLASSICAL SPECTACULAR
The most popular classical music show in the UK returns to the Royal

Wednesday 28th November CHRISTMAS ON BROADWAY - PRINCE REGENT HOTEL
“There’s no business like show business” so join us for the 2018 Christmas season as the

Tuesday 3rd July WINDSOR
Today we visit Windsor, a royal town dominated by a Royal Residence, the world’s largest in-
hibited Castle, beautifully restored after a serious fire several years ago. Located opposite
Windsor Castle in the Grade II listed Victorian railway station, Windsor Royal Shopping is Wind-
sor’s must visit shopping destination. Many of the original features remain, including Jubilee
Arch, the cobbled stones and Queen Victoria’s waiting room. With over 40 exciting shops, a
wide range of continental style restaurants, cafes, bars and an art and craft market. In addi-
tion, there are interesting boat rides available on the Thames and the famous Eton College is
nearby on the north side of the river.

Thursday 5th July LEONARDSLEE GARDENS - WEST SUSSEX
Leonardslee House and Gardens was built in 1801 with breathtaking views of the English coun-
tryside and blooming displays of Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Camellias, Magnolias and Bluebells.
The rich flora in the garden was planted by Sir Edmund Loder, a Victorian plant collector. His
plantation included many species of trees giving the garden its renowned reputation.
After its closure to the public in 2010, the gardens had been left to fend for themselves. Now
owned by the Steeter family, they are opening up to the public once again, to share with the
world the magnificent Leonardslee gardens.

Thursday 16th August BROADSTAIRS
We visit the North Kent coastal town of Broadstairs today, a beautiful resort with pleasant gar-
dens and a quaint harbour. Charles Dickens visited Broadstairs regularly from 1837 until 1859
and immortalized the town as ‘Our English Watering Place’.

A morning stop in Sudbury, a market town in Suffolk with a wide range of shops and

This holiday takes you into the heart of the Peak District, with a unique canal cruise through
the Derwent Valley, a visit to the Crich Tramway Village and to the jewel of the Peak District,
the magnificent Chatsworth House.
Hallmark Hotel Derby Midland
Staying at the Hallmark Hotel Derby Midland oozes with the unique history and character of its
home city.
It’s a place that is fondly regarded by locals and one of the first ever purpose-built railway

Peak District National Park.

Tuesday 23rd October MAYFIELD FARM BAKERY TOUR
Today we ‘Meet The Baker’ at the family run Mayfield Farm, for a bakery demonstration. Nick
Anderson, whose family run the bakery, will give a demonstration and insight into baking skills
and show you how to make the traditional loaves that you see in the bakery. A two course
lunch will then be served. There will be time allowed to purchase from the bakery shop before

Sun. 29th July Travel to our overnight stay in Caernarfon. We will be staying at the Celtic
Royal Hotel which is just a 3 minute walk to the Central square.
Mon. 30th July Early breakfast then travel to Holyhead for our Ferry crossing to Dublin.
Tues. 31st July A visit to the Lullymore Heritage & Discovery Park. A ride on the Peatland
Heritage Railway and time for lunch. Afternoon spent in the town of
Kildare.
Wed. 1st Aug. A short drive to Huntington Castle & Gardens. A guided tour by a Family
member will tell the tales of this beautiful castle. Afternoon to be spent in
the charming seaside town of Wicklow. A walk through the “Gates of Hell”
for an unforgettable tour of Wicklow’s infamous gaol.
Thurs. 2nd Aug. Today we begin with some free time in Waterford, founded by Viking
Traders in 914, the city has an exciting medieval flavour and riverside
Bustle. In the afternoon we will travel to New Ross for a guided tour of the
1840’s Dunbrody Famine Ship, with its animated interpretation of Ireland’s
famine story.
Fri. 3rd Aug. After breakfast we travel back to Dublin for the afternoon ferry back to
Holyhead and our overnight stop at the Celtic Royal Hotel.
Sat. 4th Aug. Travel back home with suitable comfort stops on route.

Thursday 27th September - Today we travel to the splendid city of York and enjoy the
