It was indeed a historical occasion of TIMACON 2023 in Erode on December 8th, 9th& 10th for two reasons. One is that the organising team pulled out a record breaking first time 3 days conference with packed audience, very useful academic contents, workshops, colourful installation function, entertainment, food, venue & hospitality etc. I wholeheartedly thank the organising chairman Dr. S.A. Senthilvelu, Secretary. Dr. D. Parthiban & Finance Secretary Dr. K. Aravind Kumar On behalf of Indian Medical Association Tamilnadu State Branch, State President Dr. K.M. Abul Hasan, Hony. State Secretary Dr. S. Karthick Prabhu and State President Elect Dr. P. Senguttuvan met Hon’ble Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamilnadu Thiru. UDHAYANIDHI STALIN and discussed about flood relief measures by IMA & our Jeevan programme. with their team ably guided by Past Presidents Dr. S.S. Sukumar & Dr.C.N. Raja. Also, firstime conduction of TN Intermedical college cricket tournament IMA MSN PL and MSN & JDN councils added value to the conference for which I am very much indebted to Dr. Thiruvenkata Lakshmanan of Erode Secondly Four first of its kind projects were launched in our Conference. National President Dr. Sharad Kumar Agarwal as the Chief Guest inaugurated JEEVAN – Basic Life Support Programme for the people of Tamil Nadu which would surely make an impact on the lives of our people. National President Praised all our

04 December 2023 efforts when he visited our IMAYAM Home a Home for Terminally ill cancer patients Erode run by Erode IMA. National President Elect Dr. R.V. Asokan graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and inaugurated AATRAL a IMA Skill Lab Scheme which would start functioning in Chennai very soon. Past National President and Commonwealth Medical Association Secretary General Dr. J.A. Jayalal launched 24 x 7 Mental Health Helpline for young medicos which came into operation on 20.12.2023. This is another most important &most demanding service from IMA to the young medicos to overcome Stress, Depression & Suicidal thoughts. Prof. Dr. S. Arulrhaj Past National President inaugurated Young Doctors Employment Exchange, again to help our younger generation to establish their career. I have fulfilled my promise soon after taking over to help people of Chennai floods.We met our Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu donated Rs. 50 Lakhs to the relief fund from IMA TNSB. Also, IMA TNSB conducted many medical camps in the flood affected areas of Chennai joining with IMA Tambaram. My priorities in 2024 are many namely Increasing membership of IMA, improving membership in FSS, streamline functioning of all the branches and settle the issues in CEA, Insurance & Minimum wages in our favour. When we met our Health Secretary Thiru. Gagandeep Singh Bedi in Chennai we presented our issues to him and sought his time to discuss all in detail and that could happen very soon. We have also commenced 24 x 7 Mental Health Helpline named as IMA ESCORT with a panel of 10 Psychiatrists. It will go a long way in the history of IMA as one of the crucial measure IMA had taken to prevent suicides among young medicos. My dear colleagues, our people both in Chennai & Southern districts are suffering from unprecedented heavy rain & floods that followed. It is our duty as the responsible citizens of the state and IMA as the responsible organisation to rise to this occasion, I request you to kindly share your time, energy and money and help them to come out of this crisis. I believe this gesture by you would be very fulfilling and you would ever remember. I am very thankful to all of you forgiving me this wonderful & lifetime opportunity so serve you as the President of IMA TNSB 2024. I respectfully thank my mentors Dr. K. Prakasam, Dr. M.S. It is my pleasure and privilege to greet one and all in this edition of TIMA New Letter which is my first as your Secretary and Editor. I congratulate the outgoing office bearers, Dr. T. Senthamil Pari, Dr. N.R.T.R. Thiaga rajan, Dr. V.N. Alagavenkatesan & team for the tremendous work they have done in the last tenure. This year under the presidentship of Dr. K.M. Abul Hasan, myself as Secretary, Dr. S. Gowri Shankar as Finance Secretary and team will try to do everything within our capacity to take IMA’s name to greater heights and also to solve the burning issues we face in day-today practice. We have already started lobbying for our problems such as Clinical Establishment Act, Minimum Wages, Insurance Rates and so on. We request all our members to follow the guidelines given by IMA with respect to the common issues that we face,so that together we become a strong force and fight for our rights for a peaceful medical practice. Our President has given a lot of noble projects and we will try our best to implement it successfully and also, we are working closely towards our burning issues that needs to be addressed. To support our Government of Tamilnadu in handling this Health crisis, IMA TNSB has decided in the last SCM meeting at Erode on 10.12.2023 to donate fifty lakhs to the Govt of Tamil Nadu and conduct camps for the affected people of Tamilnadu and also take part in the infection control measures, already initiated by Corporation of Chennai and Government of Tamilnadu. So, we request our brothers & sisters to donate liberally to the IMA Action Fund Account as early as possible to enable us to carry out the measures decided by IMA TNSB. I took this opportunity to thank my dear brother Dr.N.R.T.R.Thiagarajan who elevated me to this level in State IMA and my dear friend Dr. S. Karthick Prabhu who supported me.I also want to thank Senior leaders Dr.A.K.Ravikumar, Dr.R.Palaniswamy and all senior leaders who guided me so far. I want to thank my home branch and it’s members for supporting me since I took charge as Finance Secretary in 2015.They have supported in conducting various branch functions,State Council Meet and also recently by doing large number of registrations in the just concluded TIMACON.Thank you, dear members, for your support.I also want to thank Dr.Andamuthu who is my father like figure in the branch,Dr.Anandan,Dr.Kumerasan and Dr.Chinnasamy who supported me in very difficult times in my branch.I extend my sincere thanks to the IMA COIMBATORE BRANCH for their support. That should be discussed in district level committee. We are also insisting them to strengthen district level committees with IMA, NHB members.
