I am very much upset on sudden demise of our most Respectable Member Dr. Abdul khuddose when he was attending a IMA meeting. I Convey our heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family & friends. Medico Legal Conclave: Medico Legal Workshop held on 29th April was very expedient one. Lectures of Medical luminariesand leading Advocates of PPLSSS on various topics and medico legal issues were delivered in the presence of more than 150 participants. On the very next day we had PPLSSS Silver Jubilee Celebration and Medico Legal Conclave with the august presence of former Supreme Court Justice Honourable Ms.Indu Malhotra, present sitting High Court Judge Honourable Mr. Jagadish Chandra and DGP Thiru Dr.C.Sylendrababu as guest speakers, who made the conclave a memorable one. Children’s Sports Meet: Tambaram IMA Branch organised a well-planned, perfect children sports meet at Madras Christian College Garden. I convey my heartfelt thanks to Dr.Selvaganapathy, Dr.Karthik, Dr.Umayal Murugesan, Dr.Sai Meenakshi and sports committee members of Tambaram. Dr.Senthil Kumar Sports committee chairman coordinated the meet pleasantly and made it a very successful one. About 130 children participated in the meet. Hats off to Tambaram IMA & Tambaram sports committee. Dr.Vandana Das: A victim of violence against doctors. We promptly wrote a letter to Chief Ministers of Kerala regarding the violent murder and demanded him to announce hospitals as protected zone and also to frame appropriate protocol for the treatment of accused under Police custody. Village Adoption Programme: (k¡fis eho kU¤Jt®): I am very happy to note that many branches adopted many villages and did comprehensive medical check-ups. I hope this will improve the image of doctors amongst the public. Periodical and regular medical camps and women empowerment activities will improve the health status and economic conditions of the villagers. Our goal is to adopt as many as 100 villages which will be achieved in the next phase of the programme. State Secretary IMA TNSB May 2023 04 Dear Seniors, friends, and colleagues, An update from the state office, We have had the PPLSSS Silver Jubilee Celebration and Medico Legal Conclave organized very nicely with so much of participation and a list of guests and topics that were very useful and also helped us in establishing a connect with DGP Dr. C. Sylendra Babu IPS and also Hon’ble Justice Mrs. Indu Malhotra and Hon’ble Justice Mr. A.D. Jagadish Chandra. Dr. K. Thangamutju sir and team have toiled to make this as good as it was and hats off to the entire team that have made this possible. We have had the Internal Audit of the State Office by Dr. N. Mohandas sir and team and all advice given by them to improve the functionality of the state office is being done and discussed in the Finance Standing Committee for further implementation. The PPLSSS and FSS Management Committee Meeting in Chennai with the new team of Office Bearers went in well again with a lot of participation and discussions on the long and short term. I again take this opportunity to congratulate the previous team of PPLSSS and FSS Office Bearers who have dedicated so much of their time in conducting the various activities and affairs of the respective office. Again looking forward to work with renewed vigor with the new team. The NHB Zonal Meeting is to be held in Karaikudi with Dr. Kamatchi Chandran as organizing Chairman and please do participate and learn the nuances and problems of day to day practice of running a hospital. The mega Insurance Conclave conceived and planned by Dr. A.K. Ravikumar our National HBI Chairman and Chairman NHB IMA TNSB Dr. S. Karthik Prabhu is going to be a National Level event with participation from National Insurance regulators, insurance companies management and fruitful discussions and solutions can be sought through the regulators. The future of survival of hospitals is going to be the insurance and working hand in hand with them will be a win win situation for all of us. So looking forward to Meeting you all there in Coimbatore. The boot camp for the young medicos organized by the IMA National IMA TNSB JDN and MSN of Tamilnadu and again conceived and being implemented by our Dr. K.M. Abul Hasan and his young enthusiastic team will be an unique path breaking guidance for the medicos in the future of the Healthcare industry and our profession. Our National President Dr. Sharad Kr. I am also very sad about innocent young doctor Vandana’sdeath in Kerala. This shocking incident just exposed the volatile and highly risky environment in which our people are working. We can only advise at this point of time to be vigilant always about any impending violence against doctors. Because getting a “Central Act against Violence & “Declaring Hospitals as Protected Zones” look as a distant dream. But Kerala High court has given some directions in this regard which are more valuable. As the FSC Chairman, I have learnt that IMA TNSB is not growing by means of number. After COVID our membership drive is not revived. This is a very important message I want to give you all. The Best thing is to woo young doctors to IMA by means of activities relevant & useful to them.That is the Job I am doing right now. There will be a BOOT CAMP for fresh MBBS Graduates organised by IMA MSN & JDN of IMA TNSB on 11.06.2023 at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research in Porur, Chennai in which we will sensitize them about Job Opportunities, Entrepreneurship & Leadership, Violence happening in the medical Profession & other soft skills sessions. FSS: I am very thankful to FSS & IMA TNSB for agreeing to make a change in structure for Young Doctors who join before 35yrs of age. This could be successful for two reasons one, there are large number of young doctors and second, we have stepped up our campaign with the objective of giving, let us hope that there would be a surge in membership and achieve my target of 15000 members by the end of December 2024. We will keep you posted. Finance Standing Committee: We had our Financial Standing Committee Meeting on 07th May 2023 at JVL Plaza, Teynampet, Chennai. I submitted the Accounts for the period of January to March 2023, it was well received. CBMWM Facilitators Meeting: We had our IMA/NHB-TNSB and CBMWM Facilitator Co–ordination Meeting - 2 on 13.05.2023 at JVL PLAZA, Teynampet, Chennai. All our State Leaders, BMWM Facilitators and our NHB District Coordinators attended the meeting, the meeting almost went for 3 hours, many constructive decisions taken place, and they are as follows 1) IMA TNSB with NHB TNSB Wings will be the authority to finalize and bring out uniform decisions regarding BMW and Pollution Control Issues pertaining to IMA Members across the State for all the Branches and Stakeholders to follow. 2) No deviation is allowed from the decisions taken by the Facilitator or Hospitals / Clinics. 3) The rates approved for the Hospitals are as follows. a) Irrespective of number of beds if BMW generation is >250 gms/bed/per day charges will be on Weight basis. b) If <250 gms / bed/ per day charges will on per bed / day basis. c) It is the collective responsibility of the Hospitals and Service Providers to weigh the BMW, record and sign in the register. d) Rs.10 / bed / day and Rs.40 / Kg. e) No payment if their visits are less than 50%. 4) The rates approved for the Clinics are as follows. a) Visit should be at least twice a week. b) Rs.1200 for part time clinics and Rs.1800 for full time clinics per month. c) Two months fee can be collected as advance. Bills to be generated monthly and collect payment. 5) Decisions regarding Consultation Rooms are as follows. a) Should not generate BMW b) No need for BMW disposal Services. 6) Bags & Bar-coding Rates. a) Should be uniform for all Hospitals / Clinics and will be fixed after studying the market. 7) The above made decisions will be effective from July 1st 2023. 8) Bio Medical Plastics including saline bottles to be handed over to CBMWTF only, and this should be instructed to the Members by IMA TNSB / NHB. 9) Sharps should be disposed through the Bar-Coded Sharp Disposal Container only. 10) New Establishments should be given consent within one month of application. 11. Whenever a New Establishment is approaching the BMW Facilitator, it should be ascertained that they become the Member of IMA TNSB / NHB as for as possible. 12) The above rates are applicable only for IMA TNSB & NHB Members. 13) Hereafter it is decided to give 7.5% Increase in the rate every year by July 1stat cumulative basis. 14) It is decided to work in Coordination to face the problems from the public, PCB and Government either by the facilitator or by IMA TNSB / NHB Member Hospitals and vice versa. The Facilitators are advised to utilize the services of IMA TNSB / NHB State Office Bearers , NHB District Coordinators and NHB Assistant secretaries of Branches whenever they face some issues with the IMA TNSB /NHB Member Hospitals regarding BMWM East Zonal Conference: Our 129th NHB East Zonal Conference was successfully happened at Karaikudi, which was hosted by IMA Karaikudi KMC. Very good eminent speakers participated in the conference and presented a great speech. Rajesh Babu, Secretary IMA AMS, TNSB and a Zoom presentation by Dr. Eswaramoorthy on Basics in Laparoscopic Surgery – ergonomics. Instrumentation and OT Set up to basic Laparoscopy by Dr. PiyushPatwa. Gateway Hospital has given Video presentation/ Video lectures of basic Laparoscopy Procedures Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Dig laparoscopy. There was a Discussion and QA session as well. In the afternoon live Demonstration of Basic Laparoscopy surgery, where live surgery done by Dr. K. SendhilKumar and demonstration to the delegates. There are six people registered for this programme, they were all trained well in Laproscopy. RAIMA-Regional Anaesthesia workshop started on last Saturday (15.04.2023) in Ganga hospital with four enthusiastic delegates participated. The first session started with basics of USG and its physics lecture done by Dr. Senthilkumar, followed by basics of peripheral nerve stimulation by Dr. Vinothkumar. After the lectures, live demonstration in volunteer was done by Dr. Madhanmohan and Dr. Vinothkumar. All the delegates were made to scan the volunteer and identify the structures. On 18.04.2023 IMA AMS TNSB organised meeting on Zoom Webinar for World Parkinson’s Day between 3 PM to 5PM. The main topic of the session was MRI guided focused Ultrasound for treatment of Parkinson’s disease, tremors and Dystonia. The speakers were Dr.K.Madeshwaran gave a talk on Introducing MRgFUS, Dr.Vijayan gave a talk on What is all this FUS about? Dr.K.Arul Selvan gave a talk on Video gallery, Dr.K.Raguraja Prakash gave a talk on surgery without a knife, Dr.N.Senthil Kumar gave a talk on How thick is your skull. The meeting was well attended by State and National leaders. There were about 150 participants for the program. On 30.04.2023 IMA-AMS TNSB critical care workshop was conducted at Royal Care Hospital, Coimbatore. It is a session of Hands-on Workshop and the session from 9 am – 5 pm. This is fourth month programme of total 5 months, a structured programme for physicians and practitioners. There were 30 participants for the programme. There will be a model test in first week of June 2023 at their own Paramedical Centres. Necessary question paper will be sent through the email. The final examination for the Paramedical students for the year 2022-23 is scheduled to be held on 26-6-2023 onwards. Programmes for the final exams were already sent to the Paramedical centres and the preparation of the question papers are in process. The exams are held in the common examination centres, (nearest IMA halls). It is requested that the branch Presidents and Secretaries to provide their IMA Halls for the Paramedical exam from 26-6-2023 to 3-7-2023. The external invigilators will be supervising the examination. We request the Paramedical Centre heads to nominate the invigilators, if asked for the nearest out stations, where the TA DA will be provided as per IMA norms. There was a sport meet for the students of west zone at IMA Hall Erode. Number of students participated and entertained the audience. The winners will be awarded during the zonal meet of Paramedical Wing inIMA Hall Hosur on 28-5-2023. All the West Zone Paramedical students, faculties and Principals to attend the meeting without fail. Lot of programmes were planned to educate the students by the Doctors, various faculties and our IMA Leaders. The demands of the faculties during the faculty meet in Madurai is being implemented. IMA TNSB Paramedical website will be launched by the State President Dr. T. Senthamil Pari on this occasion. Affiliation of our Paramedical courses with the Skill Development Council is in process, we will be getting the good news very soon. We are in need of raising our standard of education to the higher level, so as to meet the requirement of Skill Development Council.

22 May 2023 FAMILY SECURITY SCHEME Greetings to all IMA members, 76th Management Committee Meeting was held on 14th May 2023 at JVL Plaza Chennai. About 51 FSS members, including Past IMA Presidents and 24 Management Committee members, participated in the Meeting and we had fruitful discussions about increasing membership in FSS. The following resolutions were passed 1) To encourage the young IMA members to join FSS up to 35 years of age they pay Rs 3000 as NRD (non refundable deposit) & 50 % of AFC (Annual Fraternity contribution ) + Rs. 1000 as Annual Subscription till the age of 40 ( or) For the First 10 years from the date of joining whichever is earlier. These new members however need to undergo a window period of 1 yr. After 40 years or after First 10 year of 50 percent of AFC, they have to pay full AFC. These youngsters enjoy full benefits as of any other regular FSS members after a 1 yr window period. 2) The existing FSS members below the age of 35 as of 12th February 2023 are also eligible for the above benefits. 3) New members joining FSS-1 from 1st Jan to 30th June apart from NRD they pay full AFC ie Rs 18,000 Persons joining FSS 1 from 1st July to Dec 31st of that year need to pay only 50% of AFC ie Rs 9,000/- apart from NRD.
