Pinoy detail : This town is near the ocean with palm
trees (swaying in the December night) very tropical
Christmas - it could have been any tropical town
pero the PAROL and "Bahay Kubo" type houses is a
give-away - yup it's the Philippines.
Interesting detail : Traditional Papel-de-
Hapon Parols complete with tails. That
Jeepney is actually how jeepney's looked
in the 1940's, Google it if you don't
believe me.
Pinoy Detail: It was already established in the
previous shot that the year is 1940 - look at the
TWO flags in the distance. BALIKTAD yung
colors, the RED field is the one on top, meaning
it's WAR TIME in the Philippines.
One can see the jeepney parked with two men
in 1940's men fashion (bowtie on one, high
waisted tucked-in shirt on the other)
Proud Pinoy Detail : "Mano Po."
'nuff said.
Pinoy Detail : "Pasalubong"
It seemed that Tatay came from work or from
somewhere and he brought home a
pasalubong for baby girl.
Take note also of her mole (beauty mark)
Several years have passed, the Mickey Mouse
plushie is all faded but still intact.
Pinoy Detail: "To Lola" - obviously a handmade card
by the apo.
Napansin ko yung ornate cannister which once
contained biscuits or chocolates. But since it's Pinoy
themed, I expected that it's either a sewing kit or
contained art supplies or medicine.
And I was right! (art supplies)
Also at this point, the crocheted coffee table
DOILY is so Pinoy! Both my Lola and Nanay
made something similar and yes either for the
coffee table or dining table.
"Look at my mole"
Lola was the little girl at the start of the story.
So probably she migrated to the foreign
country and had her grandchildren there, we
can assume that it's been a while since she's
been back to the Philippines if at all.
Proud Pinoy Detail: CAPIZ SHELL lamp and
what made me really smile - GIANT wooden
SPOON & FORK set hanging on the wall. (Fork
partly hidden behind the Christmas Tree)
Lahat yata tayo at some point in our lives
nagkaroon neto sa mga bahay natin. Actually,
sa bahay namin meron pa. Ha ha ha.
Pinoy Detail: Collecting plates and
Tea sets that will be displayed but
never used -- or maybe during
very special events only. He he he.
Pinoy Detail : Crocheted doily made by
Lola.
Deja vu for me, I swear we had something
like that before. Ha ha ha.
Punta ka sa bahay ng Lolo at Lola
mo for sure meron kang picture ng
graduation mo na naka display.
(Usually nga yung naka-Toga ka)
Punta ka sa bahay ng Lolo at Lola mo at
hanapin mo ang makina (Sewing
Machine) ni Lola - for sure makikita mo
yun somewhere. Baka nga nagagamit pa
niya.
Flashback: Pasko sa Pilipinas,
Simbang Gabi, Misa de Gallo, etc.
Aside from the obvious, since
this is from Disney - HIDDEN
MICKEY!
"From my family to yours"
By this time for sure may hawak na kayong tissue.
