The past four years have been
ones of development here at Wood-
row Wilson High School in regards
to the Instrumental Music Depart
ment. It has expanded to include the
Marching Band, the Concert Band,
the Jazz Band, the Stage Band, and
the Percussion Ensemble. The Con
cert Band of approximately seventy-
five musicians rehearses during the
day and has prepared two major per
formances, tne Holiday Concert and
the Spring Concert. On many occa
sions the Band Joins with the Cho
rus in giving a wonderful evening of
music and song. Those members of
the Jazz Band belong to the Concert
Band and are interested in perform
ing Jazz and Rock numbers. The
Percussion Band, under the direc
tion of Mr. Willis Rapp, consists of
twelve members who perform all
styles of music written and arranged
for both melodic and non-melodic
percussion instruments. Beginning

different styles of music. Anywhere

has some Christmas music, but not
all. The spring concert is open for
special numbers done by the members.
They must arrange all by themselves.
Most years we go caroling to hospitals
and nursing homes at Christmas and
also in the hallways before the vaca

This year's Intergroup council, headed by Mr.
Scarpiello, is doing a fine job in keeping the ad
ministrative staff informed of the problems in their
area. Each year, members are elected to serve their
neighborhood by their fellow residents. They meet
on a regular basis in the auditorium and discuss the
things that they feel should be done to improve Wil
son. They provide the school with decorations,
such as the Christmas tree at Christmas time and
decorations at the dances in the cafeteria. The
president, Mary Henry, is doing a good Job this
year in keeping members informed about meetings,
plans, and time schedules for the decorating com
mittee. Because they are elected from their sec
tions, they know exactly what is needed by the
members of their area and present their problems at
meetings for the other members to discuss. If not for
these dedicated students of Woodrow Wilson High
School, there would be many problems erupting be
cause of lack of communication between administra
tion and student body.

The students of Wilson High School
that are attending the Bucks Technical
School are receiving the best of both
types of education. They participate
in regular academic subjects for the
two weeks they are at Wilson, while
at Tech they are involved in any one
of 40 different occupational skill
areas. Students receive a thorough
education in the fundamental skills of
their chosen trade areas and many are
directly employed before graduation.
Others, who chose, are accepted to
schools of higher education to further
their skills before entering the world
of work.

Each morning, three dedicated students
bring the announcements and happenings to
the other students of Woodrow Wilson. Their
broadcasting station is located in the audito
rium behind the stage. The club members re
ceive announcements from faculty and stu
dents and deliver these messages via the
P.A . system. The members sometimes insert
their own comical and humorous announce
ments to help brighten up the usually dull
mornings. Tne function of the Audio-Visual
Department at Woodrow Wilson High School
is to provide equipment and films to the
teachers for use during class time. The A .V .
Department also trains students and faculty
in the use of A .V . equipment. Wilson has a
small television studio, where teachers and
students can produce and televise their own
productions.

The Cooperative Education Program offers
an opportunity for on the job work experience
for eligible 12th grade students on a part
time basis. Students who have specific and
definite occupational intentions attend school
in the morning and work for standard wages
during the afternoon. As this program is an
integral part of their education, students re
ceive credit toward graduation for their on-
the-job training. In addition to regular gener
al studies, students receive daily training in
school related to their work experience. Stu
dents are screened by the school so that only
those who display serious intent and appro
priate aptitude are given consideration. The
program makes it possible for the high school Please don't touch the register!!
to offer vocational training in many different
occupations where the manipulative phases
cannot be developed in the classroom. It uti
lizes the employer's establishment as a shop
or laboratory in which the employer becomes

being planned for the coming year
such as Christmas parties, ice-
skating parties, food sales, and a
trip to a major city such as New

The Mathletes find themselves in
a rather interesting situation as they
look at their upcoming schedule in
the Bucks County Interscholastic
Mathematics League. On seven oc
casions during the winter, the team
battled twelve other schools over
five math problems to see who
solves the most correctly. Last
year, Wilson's finest moved them
selves out of the cellar and into
ninth place. This year, however, is
a different story. The team has been
sharpening their math skills at an
almost feverish pace. Don't be sur
prised if you find the Wilson Math
letes team to be in contention for
individual and team awards in the
1977-78 mathletic season. The
National Honor Society provides
recognition for those students who
have achieved academic excellence.
These students are selected be

Certain clubs prepare students for future careers.

Library aides are volunteers who
assist with the daily operation of
the library. In addition to taking
charge of the circulation desk, the
aides perform a wide range of duties
including; checking out books, re
newing books, typing catalogue
cards, filing, and straightening the
shelves. Library aides work only
during their study periods and are
assigned to the library for the entire
year. These students gain an intro
duction to a possible career area
and learn skills that they may put to
use as a community worker. The
students who work in the school
store are doing Woodrow Wilson a
great favor by providing needed ma
terials in a convenient location.
Under the direction of Mr.
McGowan, the girls greet you with a
pleasant smile which leaves you
with a pleasant feeling for the rest

Debate allows students to practice oratory skills.

This year's Debate and Foren
sics Club brought back many hon
ors and awards from their many
battles. Although they lost many
fine debaters to graduation last
year, there were others to take
their places on the team. Ken
Saroka, a junior, is a brilliant
orator and fierce competitor, who
has taken many of the clubs' hon
ors. Ray Bartholomay, Brandon
Chew, Randy Potts and Scott Ev
ans are also in the top ranks on
the club. The club belongs to
three major leagues and takes
trips to other cities and states in
order to compete. There is poetry
reading and speeches. The many
honors which the club has brought
back to Woodrow Wilson are a
source of pride for all of us.

Clubs help students to gain experience for future.

The "Future Health Professions"
club consists of members who are
interested in some phase of the
medical field. Discussions are held
in nursing and allied health careers
to help the student recognize the
opportunities available to each indi
vidual. Members are encouraged to
get involved in community projects.
They do volunteer work and have
funa raising activities to provide
food baskets and gifts to the needy
at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Some Junior and Senior members
take advantage of overnight visits to
"Schools of Nursing" to learn what
students nurses really do. The pur
pose of the Future Business Lead
ers Of America is to strengthen the
confidence of young people in them
selves and their work. It also helps
in the development of individual ca

The Ram's Horn, the Woodrow Wilson High
School spokesman, has completed another
successful year. Honoring and informing the
students and faculty and reflecting on all as
pects of school life are the major purposes of
the newspaper. Each issue honors one Wil
son teacher for his or her outstanding contri
butions to the school, while also honoring
individuals students for their outstanding
athletic or scholastic performances. Also,
highlighted, "Faces in the Crowd", are in
teresting and active Wilsonites. These are
people you might see in the halls but whose
names you do not know. A staff of Wilson
students do the writing, editing and laying
out the paper. Since the reawakening of the
newspaper, the staff is always searching for
new ideas and interesting materials for edito

YERRBOQK

The Yearbook Staff has been engaged for a part of
the summer and throughout the entire school year
developing the 1978 edition of the Woodrow Wilson
Rampages. Hard work and dedication has been re
quired to make this yearbook a success. To all
those students who nave stuck with it and have not
quit when the going got a little rough, we thank you.
If more students had the dedication that these fine
people do, then maybe this world would be a better
place. Thanks to the superb guidance of Ms. Gil
roy, our advisor, we passed over many hurdles
without hurting ourselves very much. Throughout the
year, the Yearbooks have been sold beginning with
the annual Yearbook assembly. Throughout the rest
of the year, the staff was kept busy laying out the
design, writing, and cropping until the final dead
line. Ms. Gilroy, Bob Slemmer, Donna Albertson
and Carol Campbell and the other members of the
staff would like to thank all the teachers who had to
put up with us, we really appreciate it. We would
also like to thank Josten'sMmerican Yearbook
Company for their assistance and especially Mr.
O'Brien, their representative to Wilson.
