The Faculty of Business (FOB), Multimedia University (MMU) has been successfully organised the ACCA-MMU Inter-School Accounting Quiz (AMISAQ) in the years 2019, 2021 and 2022. This event has received strong support from our strategic partner, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Student Recruitment and Admission (SRA) MMU. In June 2019, a total of 216 secondary school students from 29 schools in Johor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan participated in the first AMISAQ. In 2021 and 2022, the AMISAQ was extended to all national secondary schools and students in Malaysia. With the approval and support from the Ministry of Education of Malaysia and all the State Education Departments, the AMISAQ 2021, which was organised in August 2021, has received overwhelming support from 585 students and 113 schools nationwide. Again, in August 2022, AMISAQ was a success with participant of 420 students from 82 schools nationwide. ABOUT AMISAQ 1

JUDGES 27 Sim Siew Han CA (M), FCCA, CIA, MBA (UVA Darden) Pulau Pinang Sim is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia (IIAM) and a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) where he also serves as Chairman of the ACCA Member Network in Melaka. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from one of the top schools in the United States. Sim completed his ACCA professional qualification in 2005 and kicked off his career in the Advisory Division of Ernst & Young, Kuala Lumpur. Since then, his other professional experiences include co-founding Sinar College, a private institution of higher learning in Melaka and serving as its Chief Operations Officer from 2008 to 2012. During the same period, Sim also served as a Director of a privately owned boutique hotel in Melaka. Sim is currently a Partner of the Audit and Assurance Services at Baker Tilly Melaka (formerly known as Sim & Teo) and a Director of Sim & Teo Tax Services Melaka.
JUDGES 28 Dr. Yip Yen Yen PhD (USM), CA (M) Dr. Yip Yen Yen holds a PhD from the School of Management at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She is a member of both the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and CPA Australia. Since 2019, Dr. Yip has been serving as an examiner for the professional examinations conducted by the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM). In 2018, Dr. Yip was appointed as the Deputy Head of the Accounting unit in the Faculty of Business at Multimedia University (MMU). At present, she imparts her knowledge by teaching a range of accounting subjects to both postgraduate and undergraduate students. Her courses include Accounting for Managers and ICAEW strategic credit papers in taxation, covering subjects such as Tax Compliance and Business Planning Taxation. Dr. Yip’s research endeavours have resulted in publications in Scopusindexed journals. Notably, in 2019, one of her research papers was recognised as the Best Paper at the 10th Global Conference on Business and Social Sciences. Dr. Yip also contributed as a paper reviewer for the Capital Markets Review.
Dr. Akhma is an accomplished professional with a remarkable academic journey and a wealth of experience in the field of accounting. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), a Master’s degree in Accounting from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), and a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Brunel University London. During her doctoral studies, Dr. Akhma also contributed as an Academic Assistant. With a strong foundation in academia, Dr. Akhma has also ventured into the professional realm. She began her career in the audit firm and was a Senior Auditor at KPMG Malaysia before joining Telekom Malaysia as the Internal Audit Manager. Currently, Dr. Akhma, who is also a chartered accountant, plays a pivotal role at Multimedia University (MMU), serving as an Accounting Lecturer. She is actively engaged in teaching undergraduate students, particularly in subjects related to audit, and is a key contributor to the instruction of the ICAEW professional papers since 2018.
