STUDENT RESOURCES

There are many factors in a student’s life that contribute to academic
success: physical and mental health, positive relationships, good
financial planning, and personal decision making. MITT recognizes this,
and offers various resources students can access should they need
assistance in their personal, academic, and professional lives.

Student Wellness

Here are some suggestions to help you make your MITT experience
productive and enjoyable:

It is normal to have difficulties. Don’t add to your stress with
unrealistic expectations of yourself and others. Learning and growth
come from making mistakes!

Ask questions. If you are not sure, ask! You will be one step closer to
the answer.

Be open and curious. Try new things. The more you explore and
expand your comfort levels, the more you will learn.

Get involved. Participate in on and off-campus activities, meet people,
form friendships, and learn about different cultures.

Communicate with your family and friends. Whether they are in
another province or country, or here in Winnipeg, they need to hear
from you as much as you need to stay connected with them!

time. This fast pace requires students to make good time management
choices in order to be successful at school and to maintain a healthy
personal, social, and family life.
One very effective way to organize your time is to look at all of the
activities and commitments you have during each week, and then see if
you have any time leftover. Each week is only 168 hours long (24 hours
per day x 7 days = 168 hours per week).
If you add-up all of your weekly activities, and still have time leftover,
great! You have time for extra study, or you can go to a movie, sleep-in,
or have a part-time job. Extra time each week is also good for
emergencies or sick days.
If you need more than 168 hours per week, how will you do it? What will
you need to give up or adjust? If you run out of time each week, take a
look at which activities can be dropped, reduced, or set aside for the
future. When looking for schedule flexibility, attendance at school, and
study time should be considered essential, just like eating and sleeping.
If you need help developing a time management plan while studying at
MITT, please see a Student Advisor BEFORE you run out of time!
