Title: Dato’Sir Onn bin Dato’ Jaafar(Johor’s leader)
Preliminary
I would like to give a warming thanks to my teacher for assisted me finish this
scrap book in Anyflip format.
The title for the scrap book is Johor’s leader (Dato’ Sir Onn bin
Dato’Jaafar)where I can exposed more about his hero’s achievement.
He inspired me to be humble in every aspect and I will share his past
achievement with my classmates.
What I can express here is I’m so proud of him now and will get to know more
about other Johor’s leader.
My scrap book contents will mainly focus on his path to grow from zero to
hero.
Lastly, not forgetting to give thanks to my teacher for guided me completing
this scrap book with patient.
Biodata
Dato’Sir Onn bin Dato’ Jaafar (12th February 1985-19 January 1962)
was first served as 7th Menteri Besar of Johor from year 1947 to 1950
and also the first President of United Malays National Organisation
(UMNO) from year 1946-1951.
Secondly, he setup the Rural Industrial Development Authority (RIDA)
for the social and economic welfare of Malays.

Son(Hussein Onn, 3rd Prime Minister of Malaysia)
Grandson (Hishammddin Hussein)
Great Grandson (Onn Hafiz Ghazi)
Education
During his early years, he studied in one of the Malay school in Johor Bahru then attend Aldeburgh Lodge school
in England (1904-1909).
His major expert in sports namely school’s cricket and football teams.
After studied 5 years in England, he felt the need to strengthen his Malay language proficiency, he enrolled Malay
College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) from 1910 to 1911.
Career and contribution:
He edited two Malay newspapers, the Lembaga Melayu (Malaya Tribune) and the Warta Malaya
(Malayan Report), the first independent Malay daily.
In March 1946, he founded the United Malays National Organization (UMNO), a political party
presenting purely Malay interest.
The reason he founded this organization is because he wants to protest against the Malayan
Union, one that would transfer political power from the sultans to a central government in Kuala
Lumpur and that would grant all people in Malaya, regardless race and religion , equal rights as
citizens.
He and his members strongly think that giving Chinese and Indians economically dominant a
part in the government would lead to ‘extinction’ of the Malay race.
With the success of oppose Malayan Union, he was appointed as Menteri Besar of his state by
the Sultan of Johore and became Member for Home Affairs for the Federation of Malaya.
Leadership values to next generation:
There are many lessons and values learned after completed this scrap book especially to next generation.
Firstly, I learned that one can train to exert leadership skills and character by improve themselves in every aspects (language, communication skills, planning and
management.)
Secondly, we can learn that we need to protect, love and contribute to our nation and we can do so by study hard,educate next generation important of excel in
studies and so on.
Conclusion
To conclude, Dato Jaafar had a very inspiring leadership character based on his past
experiences.
We can learn from him as role model and educate next generation to follow his
footstep.
