Bipolar Disorder

The topic in this article is the Bipolar Disorder. It it's estimated that more than 1.7
million people in America struggle everyday was bipolar disorder. People from the
age of 14-20 are the most common or severe cases of the disorder. The emotions of
being bipolar could range from depression to manic. This means that one day
someone could be crying their eyes out and a few days later be extremely anger
and short tempered. This is a serious issue facing teens because it affects things
like school, mental health, social skills and other things that you learn or develop
when a child is young. Some signs someone is bipolar are intense emotional
changes, problems sleeping through the night, talking really fast about a lot of
different things, has outburst and loss of focus or concentration or doing some
things that you wouldn't do regularly. There is no cure for the bipolar disorder. But
there are some ways to help control it like counseling and medications. These
things won't stop bipolar disorder completely but they will help. Also if someone
has bipolar disorder stay away from triggering subjects and or triggering people
that could make you go into an episode. Sometimes a mood episode that has both
manic and depressive stages. This is called an episode with mixed features. People
experiencing an episode with mixed features may feel hateful, empty hopeless and
sad but also feeling happy, energized and joyful. Bipolar disorder can be present
even when mood swings are less extreme. Sometimes the person doesn't feel like
anything is really wrong but family and friends may see a change in activities and
lifestyle. In conclusion Bipolar Disorder is a real problem facing teens every day,
especially in middle and high school when you're discovering who you are and
experiencing life. The dramatic changes this disorder has and could reach could
change a life for the worse.

Spotlight

My mom owns a salon in Kansas City, Mo called Unique Hair Design Studio. She
has owned the salon for six years now and she has turned an old rusty building into
a successful business. My mom's full name is Angenette Lashea Hollins. She just
turned 32 years old on January 23rd. My mom is also currently a LPN (licensed
practical nurse). She can do all the things a regular nurse can but she can't push
medication. But she isn't settling for that she is in school as well to become a RN
(registered nurse). She eventually wants to get her doctoring when my brother and
i go off the college. She became a nurse because unfortunately her son died after
just 6 months of being on this planet when she isn't working which is very rare she
likes to kick back and watch Grey's Anatomy. My mom likes the show because in
the show they are becoming doctors and showing all the struggles of being in the
medical industry, so she can relate. Angenette is very picky when it comes to food.
She likes her food a certain way, it has to be exactly how she wanted it or she won't
eat it. Also whenever we go out to eat there's always something wrong or in the
food like hair, glass, plastic, etc. Having so many jobs affects her family because
doing hair you have no set schedule, you may work from 8:36- 3:27 you never
know. Another way it affects her family is that when she is nursing she works at
night usually 7pm- 7am on the weekends so basically our schedule is all over the
place. She says “One thing I would change about my jobs is the unorganized
schedule.” it's not always easy having two careers and going to school but the rest
of the family and I support my mom 120%. We see how hard she works and how
she loves doing what she does we are very proud.

Technology essay: Snapchat

Snapchat is an application for phones and/or tablets that lets member to send
photos to other subscribers. However, it's different from just sending a text or
picture on message. Snapchat allows users to set a 1 second to 10 second time
frame for how long the other member can see it for. Also members also have a
“story” on snapchat. Where they can post something they are doing that is fun or
interesting. Another reason why teens and young adults use snapchat so much is
that messages and picture doesn't save automatically. Texts disappear right after
the friend opens it. Pictures last only 24 hours. But there are some the receiver can
save or keep the pictures and messages. While the photo message disappears from
the phone after a few seconds, the receiver can still take a screenshot. Although
snapchat does notify the sender when someone screenshots, but that may not be
enough to prevent the photo from being shared later with others. On snapchat there
are things called streaks. For example let’s says two users sent silly or just random
photos to each other every day for a week. They would have a seven day streak
with each other. If the two users do that for 45 days they would have a 45 day
streak and so on. In order to keep a streak you have to reply to your streak within
24 hours. The last fun thing that snapchat has are filters, member can make
themselves look like dogs, a flower princesses, bunnies and face swap with other
friends. Snapchat adds new filters every few days or so. So it’s fun to see what you
could look like one day and the next. Most of the users are within 13-30. Those are
the most common ages that people are really experiencing life at a young age.
Teens find it fun to see what their friends or even celebrities on doing on a regular
basis.

Fettuccini Alfredo
24 ounces dry fettuccini pasta
1 cup butter
3/4 pint heavy cream
Salt and pepper to taste
1 dash garlic salt
3/4 cup grated Romano cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

What to do
1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add fettuccine and cook
for 8 to 10 minutes, then drain.
2. In a large saucepan, melt butter into cream over low heat. Add salt, pepper
and garlic salt. Stir in cheese over medium heat until melted.
3. Add pasta to sauce. Use enough of the pasta so that all of the sauce is used
and the pasta is completely covered. Serve immediately.\

This recipe is special to me because my mom and I used to make it at least 3 times
a month. We loved cooking together and jamming out to music. We made
breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dinner was always the best out of the three. But
when we made fettuccini Alfredo neither my brother nor step dad were allowed to
eat with my mom and I. We went the deck and ate while the boys ate inside. We
basically had a “date night” where we used to talk about our day, goals, the future,
and upcoming events. It's still my favorite meal to this day. I loved doing that with
my mom. We don't do it very much now because of our busy schedules but we do
take some days out of the month to just talk and eat. But this recipe will always
remind me of the good times.

Personal Article
Parents, siblings, relatives, friends, teachers, pastors. Who is closer to you
for me it my brother. He is well now was the closest person to me, he went through
all the scary, happy, sad, and horrible times i went through. My brother made my
life exciting and complete. Even with the ups and downs. Then out of nowhere
things took a turn for the worst. The wrong person came into his life and changed
everything. He pushed me away and shut me out. He did things that weren't right.
He got caught, we went away and there's only one person to blame.

Humor Article
January 22rd was a special day. It was my mom's birthday well that's what we
thought. My brother and I were so excited because we planned her a surprise
birthday party. Everything was set the food was done and the presents were
wrapped and the decorations were put up. Finally the mom texted me and said she
was on her way and very close. Surprise we shouted when she walked in. she was
very confused as to why we threw her a party. Unfortunately January 22nd isn't her
birthday the 23rd was. But she understood and we still had fun and ate the cake
anyway.

Coming to KC
If you're coming to Kansas City there are a plethora of things to do here. The most
popular places to go are worlds of fun, oceans of fun, the Kansas City zoo, science
city, and the Negro leagues baseball museum. Worlds of fun and oceans of fun are
connected but in wof there are dozens or high and low roller coasters and there is a
place for young kids to ride smaller rides its called snoopy land. Then we have
oceans of fun where there are water slides, pools, wave pools, lazy rivers and
more. To go to wof and oof is about 40$ but it sure is worth it. Next there is the
KC zoo. There you'll find animals like lions, tigers and bears. There are also trains
in the zoo to take you to different parts of the zoo when you're too tired or hot to
walk. If you're into science you should definitely check out Science City at crown
center. It's filled with fun activities that relates to science and more than 120 hands-
on displays. Last but not least it the Negro leagues baseball museum. It is a
museum dedicated to showing and expressing the history of Negro league baseball
in America. You'll discover things you never knew about the NLB. After you come
to kc you will never want to leave.

“Strange but True”

Doubters say the U.S. government, desperate to beat the Russians in the
“space race” that NASA staged the whole thing. One thing that people noticed is
the flag waving once Neil Armstrong stuck it in the moon. But there's no wind in
space. There is no air or atmosphere for the flag to blow. Another thing is a camera
light in the reflection of the space helmet. If you look closely there a stage light
which was sketchy also. Also there was a perfectly written C on one of the rocks.
People think that it was a prop and they just forgot to turn it over. Lastly in the
video of the astronauts landing there were no stars around or in the sky. If they
really landing on the moon there would have been billions and billions of stars
floating in the sky. These are just some of the things people caught on to. There are
dozens of videos and articles explaining more about the landing on the moon. This
may seem strange but these are just facts proving the landing to have been staged.

Some things to know for 8th grade

If you're going into 8th grade like I am here are some tips to have a good 8th grade
year. Number one you really have to be organized. What I mean by that is to make
sure you set a time to do your homework and keep it somewhere safe. In 8th grade
grades are really important. I mean they're important in every grade but 8th is in
the top three. Your 8th grade grades determine classes you can take in high school.
Another tip is to find your true friends. You want to find your closest and truest
friends so when you get to high school you'll know that your real friends have your
back. You may have to go through some tough times with your friends but in the
end the true ones will be by your side. Next thing is to know your goals, set goals
for yourself to accomplish before high school. That will make sure you're on the
right track. A big thing you need to know is hygiene is super important. Especially
for girls, girls you know what I mean; that time of the month. In 8th grade most
teens are going through puberty which means that if you don't shower and brush
your teeth everyday then you're going to smell bad. You should always bring extra
hygiene supplies just in case. The last thing you need to do is find yourself, know
who you are and put yourself first. Make sure you’re okay before you see if anyone
else is. In conclusion in 8th grade be you and experience amazing things.

Review on 4 lit song
This song is personally my favorite song. If you don't like hip hop it's
probably not for you, but if you do then keep reading. This song is written by
B.o.B ft. T.I and Ty dolla sign. Together they made a hit song and i enjoy all their
music. 4 Lit is a party/ hype song. It talking about being really lit and having fun.
Lit means to be really crazy and fun, sometimes it can be in a bad way but most of
the time it's not. The general message says that being 2 lit isn't enough you have to
be 4 lit which is twice as lit. Also it's about not wasting opportunities and living in
the moment. There is also 1 more main topic but it's not really appropriate. It’s
usually played at parties and hangouts because of the hype beat that goes really
well with the song. In the song it does say some bad, explicit words so if you're not
okay with that this isn't the song for you. You'll hear one or two bad words here
and there but it's not all throughout the song. Mainly in the verse. Basically this
song is an amazing, fast, loud, hype song that will get you pumped up just like that.
