81 SHANGHAI SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Sabres Swim What a journey our Sabres Swim Team have had this year! We have seen the team grow in both numbers and ability as we see the Swim Team develop. Competitive swimming started off in October with SSL Round 1 and SSIS was the host school for the West Division. With over 700 swimmers and parents on campus, it was by far the biggest event of the year. Our parent volunteers were amazing and so were the swimmers. Everyone started off the year with new personal best times (PB). Traveling outside of Shanghai is taken with ease with swimmers. The following competition was Round 2 in Suzhou, followed by Round 3 in Nanjing, having our biggest turnout of the year. For many senior swimmers, this would be their last swim event of the year as they prepare for the exam season ahead. Development swimmers have been progressing at the right pace and speed; our numbers have since grown and we opened up to some Grade 1 swimmers whom we taught in their swim PE lessons and invited them to join the team. This gives us an easy pathway for swimmers to see progression and allows anyone to join the team at any stage. We have also increased our training sessions and times which includes the Saturday morning training, enabling swimmers to take part in other school sports whilst maintaining their swim levels of fitness and endurance. SSL Championships was the culmination to our Sabres swim team season. While the qualification times were made a little harder this year, our Sabres rose to the challenge, and the results says it all, 28 new school swimming records were made and with over 50 new Personal Best times for our swimmers from the SSL Championships alone. What a way to end our season and the icing on the cake, our first ever SSL Championships medal! When you consider 0.09 seconds separating 3rd, 4th and 5th place, this shows how competitive and tight the Championships can be. Sports and Activities
